ME-323, the Messerschmitt "GIANT" - Largest Air Transport of WWII

I found a reference to Hannah Reitsch and her test pilot flying of the Gigante (as it was called). It's the last post (by a guy named Root66), in this thread attached: http://www.falfiles.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-400833.html

    B-17 Flying Fortress

We had (2) B-17's fly low over the D.C. area a couple years back. I was on Memorial Bridge at the time (behind the Lincoln Memorial in the vid background). The vid doesn't capture at all the thrill of hearing those (4) 1,200 HP engines overhead. It was killer! https://youtu.be/38s8IZVJRpQ

ME-323, the Messerschmitt "GIANT" - Largest Air Transport of WWII

That was the first prototype if I recall right. One of the test pilots for that beast was a lion of a flyer named Hannah Reitsch, a petite woman who gets little press (she was an unrepentant Nazi). She also was the pilot for the first flight ever of a helicopter (and she pulled that off...

San Antonio, TX Monthly MV get together!!

My career was in commercial construction, and safety was hammered into us at all levels, consistently and repeatedly. To the point where you'd notice people being not-so-smart off the job. I wasn't comfortable watching somebody do something that might kill them, or worse, cripple themselves the...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2017 - June VOTE HERE!

Bigmike's rig did double-duty as a zoo! That might explain the heavy vote count: - Maybe dual-purpose vehicles are the fashion this month. :shrugs:

    An American Deuce in Canada

I've had one run-in with a black bear, years ago on a canoe portage up in the Alguonquin Provincial Park. Lucky for me that bear was just as startled as I was, and sprinted off before I had time to think. If it had been "Grizz", I'd likely just be a scattered pile of scat in those Canada...

What are you using as a stripper, just some commercial gel kind of product?

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

Floridanson might be right, but I was figuring that the "D" was for data. And the "FU" part meant that maybe it wasn't the very best of data, and kind of low on the totem pole of quality.
