The frame of the truck does not extend all the way to the back of the bed. This is how the pintle hitch is tucked under the bed, as that is the final cross-member, right at the end of the frame rails. This is located 1 foot in from the rear bed edge (tailgate), and where I would fabricate my...
Math looks ok. Bed length would effectively be 13' in length in this specific case for calculations only, because the hinges would be at the end of the frame rails, which are set in exactly 1 foot from the end of the bed. From this perspective, one can ignore the extra foot that hangs past the...
You drove me to study further stroke cylinder(s), and I found they are available, new, for less than I anticipated. I could do one of these at the front and center: http://www.baileyhydraulics.com/Chief-ITTC-3000-PSI-Telescopic-Cylinders-12-Ton-Series_4?gclid=CLXAt7TB6MoCFZE0aQodl0QLIw Or...
I'm not exactly sure, but I believe the stock pulley has too small of a bore diameter, which is good, in that it can then be bored out at a machine shop to fit the clone replacement. Don't do it with a drill, it won't track straight.
Maybe somebody can confirm this point.
The clone comes from China (obviously). A few different people distribute it, both on and off this board. $89 is the cheapest I have seen it, but that is from a place that has no phone number to contact them, for the order, or for anything else, so you can imagine how a warranty issue would be...
Diagram showed it to be flatties, and it is an older design. I have not had mine apart yet, and hope not to! It is a low cost, high volume, medium duty production engine. I have heard it is the highest volume engine Cummins has ever produced, but maybe that was before the Dodge Ram unit...
I was simply going to do the GSK, increase the fuel rate, bump the timing, and see how it felt. Some here are reaching nearly 3000r's with just the GSK. If so, that is plenty enough to increase top speed and stronger fueling during up shifts. Not sure what is left to be gained with an even...
Yep yep. Actually, you hit the nail on the head. Because I can't buy directly from my company and re-sell (conflict of interest, I tried), I have to go through a distributor, so the prices are not total rock bottom. But, as you indicated, because I swim in this stuff, I know what it takes to...
I looked into it, I want to keep the cargo bed. Also, the factory dump is a twin cylinder big bore short stroke mechanism that uses a roller and ramp configuration for the initial push-up. Pretty smart and unique. This stuff is kind of hard to come by, and the curved ramp is a part of the...
Less current draw, so will give longer available cranking time in any comparatively similar situation against the stock starter on a given battery set, whether 2, 4, or more batteries are used.
I have a line on 2 rear air locking 5T axles for $1000 each. You would need to swap in your gear ratio. It is the entire vehicle, and I want the front. PM if you have the $ and want in on it.
tobys, this is good info, thanks. I was looking for somebody to say 45 degrees is not working for them, to know if I should target more. I'll do some geometry before I order cylinders, to get the longest I can. Telescopic ones are nearly 5x the cost, each. Ugh....
Higher spring pressure rated springs are available for the marine versions that spin faster. Blue-Ox aftermarket exhaust brake systems recommend heavier valve springs when using their product on the 8.3L, so that means they are available. I don't know the part number off hand. The faster...
Multiple failures of the same issue, makes my stomach upset. For $89 you can get a 24v 70A Delco clone that won't over-volt on an improper shut down. I think TM America offer the Chinese Delco clones with lifetime warranty for $115 and free shipping? I offer 130A units if you are heavy on...
Thanks guys, glad they work well for you. Your trucks look great. The starters weigh half the amount of the removed original starter, and about 1/3 savings on physical size. They will not necessarily crank faster at room temp, but they will in cold and hot (engine) conditions because of their...
Drain and flush with hot water and Cascade. Works fabulous and super cheap to do. Drains a lot faster by pulling the lower hose off.
383 is a mouser BigChev! Looks like you have yourself an M939A2, Cummins 8.3L.
