I have towed 12psi@2500rpm uphill. Figure about 800*F (post turbo probe w/D Turbo) w/ambient temp in 60-70*F range. If the hill is steep enough to pull rpms down (and it always is) the temperature slowly climbs as RPM and boost drop. Maybe 900*F around 2000rpm (9psi). Loitering at ~1600 (5-6psi)...
The clean air kit was intended for smoke reduction however if there is available fuel there can be big increases in power, manifold pressure and EGT's. The IP needs to be set correctly for the desired effects.
It is very unlikely the C turbo would be suitable for a similar gas engine. One...
I'm no expert but I don't agree. Without manifold pressure there is much less exhaust flow so the turbine/compressor RPM is low. Maybe smoke and lower egt too?
The CH model Macks I drove got variable nozzle turbos around 05'. I had a bunch of clamp band failures with different new trucks-...
Dude, the paint looks really nice. Did you take it out of the paint booth yet? I think it will look even better once you do. Looks like you'll make the Memorial Day Parade this year. It will be a big hit (and everywhere else you take it)
Here is another, correction - what SEAFIRE was talking about 5 posts ago.... There is a translate button. Some points- crew found inside and sold for 1M (I'd lean toward SEAFIRE's link saying that there was no crew)

Usually the handle needs to go past the safety catch then lifted to hook on the edge of the opening. It helps to keep the 5th wheel surface greased. A dry 5th wheel can also cause erratic/dangerous steering behavior (ex-understeer snaps to oversteer).
Looks like I stole Gunfreak's thread so I started a new thread. I'll delete my post above tomorrow.

I also read somewhere that most V-100's were brought back regardless of condition. I was told most were pretty 'used up'. Some ended up on the receiving end of target practice. Some (incl mine) was to be re-powered w/diesel but the plan fell thru, probably because the 100's rear axle was a weak...
Stress goes up when you add cargo and pavement.
You don't need, or want, a locked differential on pavement (ex-Stalwart). Selectable is by far the best way to go on paved roads.
Big rigs run at a relatively low RPM. They get good fuel economy because they are geared for continuous duty near, or slightly beyond, the torque peak. 1200-1400RPM at highway speed is typical. The low piston speed allows for a very long TBO. They also use big boost, 36-40psi is common, so they...
Pittsburgh Diesel Service has a few articles on what you can do with the 855cu in series

If your deuce is a LD (non-turbo) you can add the turbo and adjust fuel*.
If you have the LDT (turbo) w/original boost (5-8psi) you can turn up the pump. This will increase the boost. At 12-13psi you should see safe EGT's and recover that acceleration lost going to bigger tires. If you turn...
Great point. It also wears rod bearings because the load is high and the oil pressure is low. Heavy contact can spin the bearing, then oil flow is cut off, the bearing gets loose, knocking starts, then constant impacts put a lot of stress on related parts.
