I got 4x new in crate Harz Darley water pumps from USMC surplus for my FD last spring. One wouldn't start problem with injection system. The other three fired right up.
GREAT engine. Biggest + if you run fuel tank dry the Hatz is selfpriming. Beating the heck out of Yanmar in that area...
If you are a public agency (as user of FFP or FEPP surplus to FD) you can purchase parts directly from DLA (and GSA) at their schedule pricing. Contact your state forester to get set up.
Trucking wildly across the US is not just at the whim of the Auction Co. DLA announced last fall they were going to have ANOTHER round of DRMO closings.
My "local" yard at Ft McCoy being one. For the last few years they have been bringing stuff to McCoy from all over the upper Midwest...
Thanks I did now find the 24P. Don't know why didn't come up with it before.
Yes need 2x stabilizer jacks. Looks like what I then need in order to set up while on trailer are extensions as on pg104 of the 24P.
Have a 5411-01-295-3433 Shelter TacticalExpandable One-Sided on a 2330-01-506-5979 ISO/MECC Mobility Trailer. This for my vol FD.
Trailer is typically used for the ISO Kitchen unit.
Shelter was supposed have some support/leveling jacks to use when shelter was ground mounted/erected. But...
Local farm tire service won't help a Vol FD change a tire? You need to learn beg/borrow/steal.
You can get all the tools you need thru DOD surplus. A #1 common would be a good start, with all the Army installations in your area shouldn't be hard to locate.
How did this plan work out for you? I also had same failure on 2 tents. Broke at the connectors of lower/intermediate segment during a heavy/wet snow freeze/thaw in Feb about 3 yrs ago. We had canvas (not nylon) covers) to which the snow stuck and absorbed water/froze. I think nylon would be...
That would be great if DOD had suitable big tanks available. A poly fire (baffled) tank is approx. $8/gal to purchase. SS HEMMT tank was no cost and has some limited baffles.
Genset is pad mounted at fire station for backup power. Need to secure the doors/pane;s to keep kids out and idiots from the fuel tank. Any good solutions?
Currently thinking an eyebolt near each latch and run a chain thru all the eyebolts with a padlock on the two ends. A steel or alum...
If you watch the DOD surplus listings you can find 385/22.5 or 425/22.5 on wheels. 385 are M916A3 fronts. 425 are fronts for M916A3 with armor kit. Most of the M916A3 I've seen (including the one got for my FD).
Ready to mount tank (HEMMT 2500gal).
Because you're testing/charging each battery individually based on it's condition.
Your option (plan B) is treating the battery bank as one big 24v battery which it is not. It is 4x 12v batteries interconnected. Can you correctly assume that all the batteries were identical in identical...
