On the contrary, Bison. If you have time to search for and watch videos, maybe keep looking for one that shows the basics of a FLU's components and their operation. I'm still trying to grasp that you have hours of user time on the HMMH, yet didn't get around to look under/in/on it enough to (for...

Two of my FLUs came with regular (small) batteries in them, one courtesy of the Govt. (or possibly GP), the other's were presumably installed by the previous owner. Granted, I haven't driven either one much, but there has been no sign of them boiling. My first SEE, on the other hand (while it...

I'm not worried about destroying the radials. As you've found, the stock Michelins leave a bit to be desired. And I'm a bias tire fan, anyway. Don't know if the pictured chain is radial friendly or not, but they look stout and are cheap, so once cut to size that's what I'll use. I doubt that...

Maybe you can put a small 3-D printer in there, moving it with a stick or something, and have it make new ducts on the spot? Never did try the defroster. I guess turning the heater off would redirect the air to the upstairs. Tomorrow might be a good time to try it as there's snow coming down and...

I'm no tire chain connoisseur so I merely run whatever chains I have on whatever tires I have, and make them fit the best I can since they're usually not made for the application. What I do know, however, is that even crappy chains deliver much better traction in the snow. If they only provide...

Chains, Bison, chains. Last winter I used a pair of basic square link tire chains (a $60 yard sale find for 4-1/2 pairs) on the rear of the SEE, and they made a world of difference. Yes, I still managed to get stuck, but dug much deeper holes trying to get out of than would've been possible...

Probably a bit like welding on a gas tank. Except then you know it'll go "poof" at some point.

Wow, Mark, that's a manly thumb. If/when I get a cheapy version, being smaller and thinner it should fit fine. Thanks for the info.

Mark, I've been giving serious thought to adding a thumb recently, but the one I considered is about half the weight of yours. If you don't mind, what make and model did you get? And maybe more importantly, what length is it?

Planning ahead for trenching (and ditch cleaning) myself, I'm about to order a 12-inch bucket. The problem I foresee when using it for trenching is that the width at the upper pin is about 15 inches. Showing the bucket deeper than it is "tall" will not be kind to the upper pivot point, unless...

Sounds like you're trying to retract the right stabilizer all the way before having the hoe all folded up and turned all the way to the right. Bucket width shouldn't have much to do with it. A six inch wider bucket would fit on my SEE, if removing the loop at the rear of the tool box. I hate...

I like dual 12s as they offer the ability to be charged off of most any vehicle, are readily available, can supply 12 Volts for accessories, and a few other reasons. No reason to disconnect the batteries when charging them. But do leave the main switch off, just in case, so the two batteries...

Each connection in an electrical system is a potential trouble spot, and eliminating two of the four connections in a 12 Volt series setup would be an advantage. Other than that I can't think of a single reason to use a 24 Volt battery over two 12s.

    Yep. At least that old.

Well, now you can picture it, so to speak. All you need to add is a stout section of 3-inch square tubing, 1/4-inch wall, and attach it to your M931.

    CUCV Integrated winch mount.

Yeah, the episode with my Jeep is the only one I've seen. I need 48 hour days, or fewer hobbies, or maybe break a leg, so I get a chance to watch the other episodes. Would also like to see more of the Road Kill videos, and...

Wish your M1008 would turn like an M1009?

Good point. I guess it's barely a 1007.2 these days.

Not familiar with the butt of an M931, but it should be easy enough to build a gooseneck or 5th wheel mount for one if that's what you crave. Never did get around to it, but wanted to make a 2-1/2" vertical "receiver" for the Pete, positioned right behind the 5th wheel, and drop a B&W turn-over...
