Yep yep. Just like a Chevy 350....
To anybody who pursues this particular gauge, it is a direct fit and use, but the bezel is the darker green as you can see in my pic. Try to paint the bezel the correct OD green before you install it.
I just started my 925A2 this morning to add a line to this thread for reference. Ambient temp was 28F at 7am this morning, and my truck cold started with just the usual "bump" of the starter switch, which is much less than even 0.5 seconds. Didn't touch the throttle, didn't use the ether. I...
Absolutely yes. My gauge showed barely up off the pin when at an idle. This was both as-received, and after replacing the sender and gauge with new, didn't matter. Threw it all away and went with this mechanical one that has the original type lighting (through-case). Is hard to find and...
I just bought one also, mine self-destructed from shutting down the "wrong" switch first. What a BS design. I'll be installing some type of over-voltage protection so it doesn't happen again. This goes on the same fabulous list as the low-reverse deal. Something should not be able to break...
Ah yes, digging deeper usually finds the treasures! A lot of people have done what you have, and when all you have is 12v around, you are stuck for at least a short while.
Or get a PortaCharger: http://www.portacharger.com. Ha ha! My product!
Yes, you can just use a high current...
It may be because if this alternator needs a remote source line, and this line drops to 0V during an incorrect shut down (drop batt switch first) so that drives the alternator to increase its output.
I'm a starter and alternator guy, so if that is the case, we are changing that in a hurry.
Jason, exactly. Is the alternator main charging output connected through the PCB, or just the energize signal for the alternator, as well as an AC feedback line to tell the PCB that the engine is running?
Also supposedly so has a timer and oil pressure circuit in it? I replaced my electric...
So, it seems even if I were to install a brand new PCB and ABS ECU, the PCB does not protect the ABS ECU from improper shut down spikes, and this improper procedure is said to be able to harm the PCB as well.
I'm not installing a brand new ABS ECU without adding protection, this is not...
These solenoids have 2 coils within them, hence the 3 wires. One is a very strong "pull" coil, which will have a lower resistance to initially and quickly "pull" the solenoid open. This circuit is activated during the "crank" sequence. This coil is only rated for temporary use, or it would...
You can run them like you are asking, but I don't understand the point of not having them connected if you are carrying them on board anyway.
Older twin engine boats have a "bridging" switch which is just a solenoid to connect the left and right battery banks if need be.
If you are...
Any updates here of how protection can be added? I zapped my ABS ECU also, and I'd like to add over-volt protection as we'll. It seems the ABS ECU is the only thing to pay the price in an over-volt situation on these trucks. Sure, it is easy to say "Shut it down correctly", but I can't...
My ABS ECU is dead from improper shutdown. I was habitually dropping both switches to off, and would notice the volt gauge swing to red as the engine was coasting down, and then the gauge would bottom out to off. ABS 15A fuse blows as soon as replaced and battery switch is flipped on. Have...
I would think using a non-twin countershaft trans would also fit? Not sure what that takes, I think maybe an old 7-speed or less? How are they doing it in todays diesel pickups? They are nearly 400hp now, and you can get a manual trans, and I promise it is not a twin counter unit. Could be...
Yes, search "coolant filter install".
The coolant filter has a very low flow rate. If you install it inline (in series) with the heater core, you will likely greatly reduce the heater ability. Because of this, some run the filter only in the summer. You could run it parallel with the...
Go by numbers. Are any of your fluid levels increasing or decreasing over time? What is your hot idle oil pressure? WildChild467 had something almost same as this on his M35A2 engine (LDT465), and the metal pieces were a thrust washer and flyweights that came apart in the governor part of his...
I made a one piece 72" LED bar for my 925 by disassembling two new Chinese bars, cutting to length, TIG welding together, and then ordering a custom cut single piece of Lexan (mail order). It went together great and makes an absolute TON of light. Like, a dangerous amount. You could do an...
"Down with the push button", that was a cool response, and I get it. But, this thread is yet another one for the list of "my lights don't work" from an OP. I'm not experienced enough to even know or have spent the time to figure out all the settings yet, I really only know how to turn them on...
