The Mess Tent will be available except during meals. If Streamline loans us another tent to go with the one we bought from him last year it would be a pretty big covered area.
If someone has some deuce or 5ton cargo covers or some other flat tarps we could sure use them for ground covers...
I have a mulit-fuel water heater and pump set up from a field shower unit that I will bring if someone wants to do the fab. It's brand new in the box and I have the manual on it. We will need a tent or some other privacy structure . There are some people that should never be seen...
They are going all over the country.
It will still need to be loaded onto your chosen transport.
If you want be another banana in the bunch chime in.
I made several calls to the Marine Command and to Honeywell (the contractor that runs things on base). I didn't have a lot of luck but I am persistant if nothing else.
My goal is to meet up with some old grizzled gunny that will help an old Master Sgt. out.
I'm also going to look for a...
Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy.:cookoo:
By my count there are eight members with at least ten trucks (assuming a few means two)
I would think that if the timeline falls in place GL would love to load all of those out at one time.....it would save them a lot of running back and...
I have bought a lot of vehicles from GL.....most of them deuces. Early on I never got the SF-97 since I knew some of them were going to be cut up or that I was only going to sell them with a Bill of Sale to someone in Alabama (can be done with a BOS here).
I now get a SF-97 on every vehicle...
The ones with the super singles will cruise at a higher speed but will fall flat on their face when they hit a hill. You are talking about a 36,000 pound vehicle that was underpowered when it was built.
Paradeduty.....if you are willing to try to get your guy into our "window of oportunity" I'll be happy to work with you.
I would prefer to keep the time on the ground at less than three days to keep down my expenses.
Luis at GL has said he will work with us to get them out in a set window...
It is not that hard to get a class B CDL (straight truck). Wearing a military uniform does not mean a DOT guy or local LEO won't pull you over....especially if they are not used to seeing that type vehicle. They may do it out of pure curiosity to find out about the truck.
If you are going to...
Running up under the rear of a big truck is part of the natural selection process used to cull the terminally stupid from the human herd.
You can't idiot proof everything due to Mother Nature's inherent ability to upgrade the common idiot.
The only issue with driving them this time of year is the heat........having driven them in Korea in the summer time I can tell you that they are very hot. The cabs have lousey cross ventilation and unlike the older trucks you can't open the front windows to get a steady breeze. The dash fans...
Looks like they own a big chunk of it. They my share it with some other port facilities.
I got some contact numbers off the Marine website and will be doing some intell work.
