Check all the other stuff, but you are both probably going to be doing IP swaps to fix the problems. They are 26 plus years old by now. Things do wear out.
Does this mean you don't want the military plug/cable for the front of the trailer? I can come by Monday afternoon and pick it up.
Seriously, welcome to the site. There are a half dozen or so Aggies here. I am '90. There are also about 20 people who are addicted to these silly green machines...
What happens when you are going down the road at say 70MPH and you let off the throttle? When you get back in, does it do nothing for a few seconds and then give full power again?
A just changed out the IP on a M1010 for a fellow SS'er who had a truck doing exactly as I described. Problems...
If you want it to drive like a modern vehicle, buy a modern vehicle, swap in the running gear from a modern vehicle or just live with what you have. The 6.2 does not like to rev. So, tall gears were used to make the 1009 go highway speeds. That was 55 mph then. That is also why the truck...

If only 2000 of them were made, Brent Mullins must have cornered the market. He had them for sale outside his place for years. He must have moved dozens if not hundreds. Of course, he stopped selling them about the time I wanted to get one.
The Canadian 101 is the same as the US M416. Except, it has more handles and tie down points. Basically, if it is hooked to a vehicle. Two people can grab the handles and move it with ease. Makes backing into tight places nice.
Kwai and I towed a M101 behind a M109 600 miles one day a few years ago. They follow great. You can't tell it is there unless the early morning or early evening shadows are just right though.
