I'm building pretty much exactly what you're talking about. I've put about 4000 miles on it so far, and all I've done so far is add a muffler. I've been too busy with the motorhome conversion to do much more, but I'm planning to make Mah Deuce a lot more civilized. I just finished singling it...
The thing I'm concerned about is the long horizontal stretches along the frame. I want to be able to pressurize the axles/transmission/transfercase using the vent lines, so I was thinking about installing some type of Y-valves / ball-valves that I could open (to atmosphere) to blow-out the lines.
I don't remember exactly where, but I'm pretty sure that somewhere in that document it says what type of steel the Deuce frames are made of, and it also says that the the Deuce frames are NOT heat-treated (but 5-ton frames are).
I talked to Accuride today. They don't have anything in a 20" wheel that's set-up to run in a singled configuration, but they encouraged me to figure out what the ideal wheel for this application might be. Firestone Specifies an 8" wide wheel for the T831's, but I'm wondering about the...
Thanks for explaining. That all makes sense to me. I wonder if we could make some type of a simple bladder to these weed sprayers. Or maybe we could use another container (like a shock reservoir with a dividing piston in it).
Just out of curiosity, what's you're background that you know so...
How is air going to get injected into the fluid if the pickup is submerged in fluid? I've heard that DOT 5 fluid is particularly susceptible to aeration and foaming if it's shaken-up. I guess maybe I could see that being a problem? Could you please elaborate on this point though, because I just...
Yeah, I've seen pictures of those plates, and understand exactly what you're talking about. I was just thinking that a lower frame (maintaining adequate clearance for articulation & turning) might not be a bad thing. But I need to read more about tow dollies in general. I don't know if they're...
That's a greeeeeaaat idea! I don't normally like the look of those M105 beds too much (would prefer to cut down a deuce bed), but that would make an awesome little shelter for a weekend camper conversion.
Me too. I just bought one to swap into Mah Deuce and it's HEAVY.
Heavy enough to give three guys trouble lifting it.
That's not bad! Put a synthetic winch cable on there and wow, you're talking MAJOR weight savings then, huh?
Sorry to hear that man. I'm working with Roda Deaco, trying to adapt one of their throttle cutoffs to Mah Deuce engine. I was planning on starting a thread when we got into it.
Just found a bunch of old threads...

Oh rearry? All the military tractors I've seen pulling civilian 5th-wheel trailers look like they sit way high in the front, so I thought the lower deck-height might be desirable. If it's not the right thing to start with, I'll just buy another trailer...
