That is great news! Being able to get into the truck, crank it up and drive makes it SO much nicer. Getting some seat time and enjoying it as you fix any small things that pop up will definitely make ownership so much sweeter!

Like @98G mentioned, if you have a "fresh from the military" truck with something in the fuel tank - it should be JP8. That fuel doesn't "grow" like truck stop diesel. It should smell differently than regular diesel too.
@frank8003 has several threads on this site with many discussions...

Neat!! I like it. Sadly, I have found no larger magazine than the 10 rounders - but still - it is slinging about 660 grains with the M33 Ball. Energy between 10,000 and 15,000 foot pounds (another measure at between 14 and 18 kilojoules). Still, if you were on the receiving end of the...

I agree with tempered everywhere except the windshield in front of your face...
If some goofball throws a rock into a piece of laminated glass it might hold together long enough for you to stop safely.
I think most states require safety glass (laminated glass) on the windshield.

I second the request for pictures!
Hopefully the wife will think it is wonderful one day soon :)
Maybe when it rumbles to life that will make her smile...
Seems like a darn good price.

Wow what a difference! When you get finished with it, it will be about like it was when it rolled off the assembly line. LOTS of hours have been poured into that truck. Really sharp and lots of attention to detail by you!
What a great thread...

Funny how things work...
Every time I have been on the side of the road - needing to change a tire - I've never had a spare truck to pull a ratchet strap like that
Maybe this guy could have picked himself up a 4-Way Lug Wrench.
I have seen the cheap ones pop off at the weld - or one...
.
That would be a heck of a plan...
No need to hack up the truck doing it that way!
I just found this M925a2 (1990) with a 8.3 Cummins and a pair of 110 gallon Tanks. Sold recently for $43k.

Welcome to the Outfit!
Off the top, it sounds like a heck of a deal - that it is there in the state you live in. Dang shame that we keep closing military bases. "They call it "realignment" and branches of the service get combined onto one patch of dirt. Things like Andrews AFB became Joint...

Dang Right!
I am with you 100%
Cummins in my M-936 (with a new muffler) sounds pretty sweet to me. Makes a lot of noise, but it just sounds tough. Then my contractor neighbor up the road comes by with one of his tractors. Big 4 axle trailer and a big Cat engine under the hood. He rides...

Good to know!
Dang sure wouldn't want to VOID THE WARRANTY with Momma Allison.
I would say Transynd has just become your best friend when dealing with shifty things!

AND, just so you know... Those TM's are good and wonderful things EXCEPT THAT they sometimes talk in a completely different language than you (or me or a lot of us - til we learn it).
A really good example of that is when I was trying to find what the TM's call a "Cab Support" that other...

Hi Mick,
Guessing this is a manual transmission Deuce that you have?
I have seen some pretty well cobbled together linkage under those trucks. Where the linkage connects to the TC lever casting and at the TC itself are hardened pins with spring pins to hold them in place. Over the years...

Another Ahab , I believe I have to agree with you... I acheived O.G. status about two years ago when I turned 60 ;-) and it isn't a bad place to be. Back when the "older guys" were showing me stuff I was in my 20's. Things worked really well back then.
Guessing because learning that I had...

It looks amazingly clean even though you see the very slow leaks that trapped dirt over the years... It might be worth removing the yolk off the pinion. Then you might be able to wipe down the seal. Maybe that way you could go to NAPA with the part number in hand.
As I get older, the...
