Over all, a good day. Finally got the leaky ex-spare (now RF on the SEE) to stop leaking. Also got the oil changed (FINALLY) on the former parts SEE. Happy to see that it looked a lot like what I poured back in...it was clean.
Another nice surprise was the new style primer pump. I'm starting to...
General Hood might be very interested in the remote start feature. He has one SEE which he can't get started in normal fashion, but maybe the remote would do the trick. If nothing else, he could continue his attempts from the comfort of the couch, instead of having to be out in the weather.
Mark, as I recall, the actual middle is somewhere in Kansas.
My little portion of the actual Midwest is east of the continental divide, barely, so we're not all that far apart.
I can see one painted OD, or desert tan, if that's the color of the SEE. Heck, don't forget Mercedes mud flaps and a shiny (since it doesn't matter) Mercedes key fob.
But even if those doctors are status sensitive they may still have taste, so don't add anything that isn't easily removable.
Mark, congratulations on getting a SEE, and what sounds like a great one at that.
If you're not into originality, check out the dirt cheap LED worklights on Amazon and elsewhere. But what's your definition of "bad"?
Does it indeed get power (and ground) yet doesn't work?
Should your travels...
Far from everything was done on mine when overhauled. But then, the one which is the easiest to tell on (because it wasn't painted afterwards) has no RRAD stickers. I'm guessing that they fixed what was needed, but no more.
Haven't tried un-denting any fenders yet, but if the wider tires...
You're as bad as I am, MSMOG. Yeah, you "need" a tractor to occasionally move some trailers. Sounds like what I would say.
In reality, all you need is a con gear, then you could move them with the SEE. And I happen to know where you could buy one.
A SEE makes a pretty good yard goat, as long as...
Have you seen what Soni Honegger did to his M920? He turned that ugly duckling into a bitchin' truck. It wasn't a quick or cheap transition, but what a difference.
As far as driving one home goes, you'd probably want to do a gearing change and add much taller tires before you start the trip.
In...
So, to give you an idea of what I'm selling; A 1980 359 Pete with a fresh Cat reman 3406B and Fuller reman 18-speed, rear air suspension. Custom built 28' dry van with living quarters in the front (copy of a Lance cabover camper design, but backwards and with a larger shower and 100 gallons of...
Alright, alright, send me some money and I'll get a few more, Mr. Hood. Actually, I need to dig up some photos of the Pete and trailers so someone here can buy them (great for transporting SEEs and other stuff) which would free up funds for SEE purchases.
Yeah, that'd be the honorable thing to...
Yikes! At that price, it makes me want to look into using a common transfer case lever boot for a Spicer 18 instead.
Also, it's possible that PETA could have an issue with sealing up what seems to be the doggy door for rodents on a SEE.
You got that right! I had to use a hydraulic jack (in essence a press, using the HMMH as a weight over the floor) to get the door skin on the HMMH straightened out.
Another way could be with an air chisel. I modified one bit (tie rod separator) into a mushroom shape and it works fairly well...
Edit: This was in response to the question about 10W or AW32, but my attempt at quoting didn't stick.
Can't say that I ever thought to check what was in there. Just like with the engine oil, no matter how clean it may look, out it comes and known oil of my choice goes in. At the very least...
Skid, I made some progress on the quick attach. Hopefully the pic will be helpful for when you start your cutting, welding, and grinding.
Tomorrow I should get to try it for fit and function, then a bit of grinding before paint.
Heck, I might even wax it, in honor of General Hood.
I don't think that those plates and numbers are called bridge plates, but you find them on most any military vehicle. EDIT: My bad, they are indeed called bridge plates.
Be that as it may, I would be very interested in buying what appears to be a narrow bucket seen in the background. If you...
