If you really want to keep the original alternator, I'd purchase a Delco 24V regulator ($15) and patch it into the original alternator. Another low cost and more reliable option to consider.
Another option would be to install an externally mounted voltage regulator onto the alternator you have now. Such is available as old OEM stuff, in addition to newer aftermarket styles.
Crimp off or otherwise interrupt the fuel supply to the carb. Let it then idle until it starves itself out. If it clears up just before it falls on its face, then it is likely an overly rich condition.
I want to apologize to anybody which took my statement/opinion as inconsiderate, as that was not the intention at all. It is a tragedy when anybody is injured or more. Again, I did not read this thread entirely and I should have before posting. Lesson learned, and I have egg on my face for...
Likely the voltage regulator. It is simply a FET (transistor), which is just a fast switch to send current to the rotor depending upon measured system voltage. The change to a Delco or Delco type (Chinese clone) would likely yield a higher quality replacement with a longer life all at a lower...
I "believe" they have pistons specific for that spray pattern. Incorrect piston type likely reflects the spray onto the cylinder wall vs keeping it in the piston bowl area. Why are they different overall? Not sure.
Thanks both for your replies, they were both helpful. Understood many of the older ladders may be too short to fit "properly". And then Gunzy cruises up and shows how he circumvented that. I was stuck on hooking the ladder on the top edge of the tailgate (when down). Obviously still useful...
So I want to acquire a boarding ladder for the bed of my M925A2, but I don't know the required one or length of such. I see postings of ladders for sale, and they give a length, but that does not correspond with the heigth reached via level steps. Meaning, sure a shorter one may reach, but...
Start with the belt. Replacement available at NAPA, and always good to have a spare on board (old one). While off, spin each accessory pulley by hand and make sure none are overly difficult. If squeal persists with new belt, or returns shortly after, then replace tensioner. They don't last...
2 of the 6 pinion seals on my M925A2 were leaking at a very good rate, leaving puddles type leaking. I checked the spring loaded vents, and they were OK. I cleaned and reused them anyway, leak persisted. I then removed the spring loaded pop vents, and replaced them with plastic tubing routed...
The "R" terminal on heavy duty alternators is typically a single phase sine wave (AC voltage) output. Historically used for a diesel tachometer, or to trigger an hour meter to run (so key left on does not rack up hours). It is not designed for any type of loading. Check the terminal with your...
I believe the minimum speed limit on most Michigan freeways is 55mph now. Driving 48mph is likely going to shoulder at least some liability that I don't believe an amber beacon changes. You should up the speed, or stay off the freeway. Don't just post silly stories of how you were almost...
