Find enclosed a pic of modern HD alternator connectivity. There is no exciter wire anymore, and it seems yours is also working ok without it. The remote sense is typically not required, especially on lightly (electrical) loaded vehicles. The alternator should not go full tilt if the remote...
For those that run 16.00's on their M939's, do you correct the speedo accuracy? Meaning, is a different cable side gear available to set it correctly as compared to the 14.00's? Not sure what the 16.00's came on, but there must be at least a choice of 2 different driven gears since the A0's...
My M925A2 runs 67mph on GPS stock at 2200rpm's. That can be turned up, but probably not safe to, as the tires are rated for 55. I'd recommend to buy one for sale from a member here, as it would likely be turn key ready to drive with little to no maintenance for at least a short while or...
I'm not a CTIS expert, but I do have a working system. Look at the flashing lights carefully, is it 4 or all 5? 4 is a low tire and 5 is a failed control module. CTIS doesn't work well at less than 120psi. Once you reach 120psi, press both lower red buttons simultaneously, it should start to...
Just FYI, the 1100CCA batteries will have a much shorter life than a lower rated battery of the same group (physical) size, because the plates are much thinner. Most over-the-road truck batteries are group size 31. Most higher end factory trucks use 650CCA batteries because they will get 5-7...
Not sure if you did it or not, but the hand primer on the mechanical lift pump really doesn't work until you crack the bleed screw open on the injection pump. I did it by cracking the fuel feed line banjo fitting that feed the smaller engine spin on filter.
This was my experience anyway.
Delco 24V conversion is probably the lowest cost, and likely more reliable method to do this. There are even Chinese clone versions out now, which really lower the cost even further. They probably work OK, seeing that technology is decades old now, and those will even be new and not rebuilt...
At a 10 year age differential, sometimes I may. God already took a swipe at me and missed.
You have now helped 2 people with this issue, and you don't even own a 9!
What do those weights control? Are they the timing advance mech? Are they the RPM governor? A combo of both? Didn't know it had an advance mechanism. I don't believe my 6CTA8.3 does (not that it is related to this, but just mechanical diesel in general).
There is a "wet" tank on those trucks, and they are not allowed to build air pressure until the system reaches 45psi or so. That tank is basically an accessory tank that runs the wiper, horn, and something else I forgot. It is fed by a pressure priority valve, and you may have a big leak in...
I'll give you $400 for the level wind and tensioner themselves (pulley/trolley on top and rollers within bracket on front), then you can have the winch for free to try.
An alternator voltage regulator is just a FET (Field Effect Transistor), which is just a simple switch. It is simply commanded opened or closed, based upon if the measured voltage is above/below the set point, respectively. From there, it is sending current through the brushes and into the...
Again, not me at all. Wildchild467 did it entirely himself. I didn't even lift my hood. I came home, and he was in my backyard, beer bottles littering the yard, with his feet sticking out of the wheel well. The horn issue drove him nuts. Fun kid to have around. When he doesn't completely...
My large filter sucks air when trying to drain also. There is a Schrader vent valve on top of the large filter, and as soon as you press this in, it allows the canister to drain.
On the engine mounted filter, your procedure is correct, or at least how I do it. Open drain, wait about 30...
