I would try to get aillison to give you the spec for fluid. I know that the M135 the army used OE but GM called for ATF and most ever one says to use ATF the the OE eas the root of most of the problms. It was just cheaper for the military.

The 3000 mile is not the proplem its the 40year of bad wheather rain snow sun salt. I dont think that truck has been inside since it left the factory. I'll bet the seals have been gone a long time letting moister get into those joints that cotton will hold water just as good as it did the dry...

As I recall when I was in I seem to remember it being in the box in the tool box. Nothing loose was left in or on the trucks or it would be gone

The shift forks are ok and I can put it into grear and still trun the out put shaft but the grears do not trun does this mean that some thing is broken inside of the grears??? Does this happen??? I'm confussed????why do the other grears wrok fine if something is broken??

No H2O it just got done running for 20-30min I did add some of that Lucas oil teatment so its littel foamy.
