I add Power Service diesel additive every time I fill up year around. I use winter formula in the cold months to prevent gelling. Good for the injection pump and injectors both. Also runs a little quiter.
Those terminals with the little 2 screws clamp to bare cable ends are just a bandaid fix in an emergency. Those screws can strip threads and not make good contact. There is not complete cable contact with those type clamps to start with. They are like a loose nut on any cable connection. Next...
Kerosene is the same as number 1 diesel. It is a little bit lighter weight than number 2 diesel. It also has a slightly lower btu rating.
