And to think the one I drove for 2 years in the desert, starting in second alot and never had trans problems. loaded in sand sometimes used first. I had the same truck the whole time, as well as some others. But then it never had much of any problems at all anyway, fuel leak, axle flange gasket...
Maybe I will pay for it someday, but I always start off in second. Unless moving around the yard. Doesnt seem to strain anything. Drove the M35 and the M813 for 4 years in Marines and always started off in second, unless you had to use first to get it to move or up mountain roads. I also only...
That small amount of power i dont really need, that sound turns heads. Ill stick with the "C" although I have a "D" for a spare on a spare engine..just hope i never have to use it. The sound doesnt bother me at all. On longer driving, i just wear ear protection, around the town, not needed. But...
Not sure how this thread got into water cooled turbos, but a quick walk around the yard and here is what I found. Of course this was a quick look, so not set in stone.
Cat 3116, 3126 and C7 do not have coolant cooled turbos
Powerstroke 7.3, and 6.0 are not coolant cooled turbos
Powerstroke 6.4...
We have crews that have had their trucks since new, and as they get older, of course things leak. They are use to it holding overnight, but now dont. So we do the soapy water routine...over and over, sometimes we find something, most of the time not. They get used to it. :driver:
Ive worked on air brake trucks for 30 years and its rare to find one that will not set the alarm off over night. Yes there are a few that will hold over night, but its rare. You are right about the 3lbs leak in one minute with foot on brake, however I challenge someone to show me 3 lbs on an...
It really can't be that hard to follow the rules. Unless i broke one and didnt know it :jumpin:Little common sense goes along way. Great site, keep up the good work guys!
Thanks, cant wait to get them on and do some road testing. Hope to pull all the wheels Saturday, pack bearings and check brakes. Then I'll feel better about driving on road much. Everything else works so far. Just need to add the other 2 batteries. When gets warmer will paint..oh and change both...
Well got my tags today, so from winning at GL to taged, almost 2 months to the day..awesome. Now that I have used up all my luck with the government and GL, I'm done. These 2 are enough play toys for me. ;-)
Battery update.
Well the 2 grp 31's wouldnt crank it at 28 degrees with wind chill of 15. Even with M35 hooked to it, only crank and no start. used cold heat start, as outlined on dash;-) and fired right up, wow that works..[thumbzup]
so guess it will get 4 grp 31's then. oh well i tried the 2...
I think the real issue is, lots of people are registering historic vehicles [1992] and back and driving them everyday to and from work. 1992 does not seem old enough to be historic to me. but maybe I'm getting older. It only has to be 20 yrs old right now. By registering as historic, skips state...
Update:
Got my SF97 and Florida title today in mail
Ok from winning at auction on Dec15th, 2011, picked up truck on Jan 17th, got SF97 on Feb 11th. So about 2 months from auction to having SF97 in hand. Not bad at all from the horror stories Ive read, guess lucky. Will go this week and get...
Thanks alot, Looks like 2 seperate bills regarding historic tags with HB 668 covering trucks over 10k.
After reading both, looks like big difference that would affect us, is the removal of "incidental" use as far as trucks are concerned.
I disagree with this, but I understand why. People who...
