Improved X door hinge pin. Credit to Tom Rogers on this one. The pins usually bend/break at the press relief. Grade 8 5/16”x5” bolts and metal locking nuts.
Assembled with locknut and thick washer.

Wow.
Just spent 2 hours trying and failed.
Struggling to get 1/4” of clearance for the caliper to crossmember. Loosening the pinion mount and a pry -bar helped but not enough.
Looks like I’m pulling the cooling stack to access the mounts and recentering. Not bad, have to pull the stack anyway...
Long story, I'm WIP re-installing the front differential after a rebuild.
The differential is in, RF brakes are done. I'm having difficulty with the LF caliper installation. There is not enough room in the forward direction to slip the caliper around the adapter/pads/rotor assembly. I'm...
It’s basically a Saginaw box. Easy rebuild IMO if you have prior experience or are comfortable learning. Kits should be available through the usual distributors. Make sure the kit comes with seals and bearings.

I used some class time to model the hard door latch spacers. Really simple to do. Sent the specs out to send cut send for an initial batch run.

I'm finally getting around to taking CNC mill classes at the local shop. Next week I have the opportunity to run the mill on a test pattern in aluminum or mild steel. Curious if there are any developed Fusion 360 patterns for some small interesting parts on the HMMWV platform. Nothing...
Old thread alert.
M1151a1. Looked at TM9-2320-387-10 and did not see the Bogert jack referenced anywhere in the load out instructions. I'll likely strap it down in the rear cargo area. I do not as yet have the rear partition in place so will take some care to ensure that this heavy gear does...
I’ve been running the Predator cover for a few years. Nice quality and fit but not super rugged. It does not fit well over fording intakes, fording exhaust or tire carriers…

Front diff on the mill for thread repair. All new bearings going back in as well. Shout out to Carl Jantz on this for great work.

Differential is out. Gears look good. Ordered output bearings and seals. Housing LT bracket holes are in poor shape. Upper LT hole needs to be welded & tapped. LT lower hole has some pulled threads. Both will get inserts.
Tighten and locktight those differential bolts!

More fun.
Diff output leak cause is a fully pulled stub shaft. Looks like prior service pulled the whole shaft rather than removing the flange and could not figure out how to press the bearing in situ.
Pulling the whole diff now to inspect and repair. Hopefully the gears and housing are still in...
+1 for RWH. Great community member who does top notch work.
If you need a hand [emoji1672] locally for work you’re willing to take on yourself happy to help.

My prior M998 went through a pitman and idler arm in less than 2 years with casual driving. I upgraded to A2 arms + center link with new TRE. Great steering after that.

Good progress this week. Sold my other project car and got the 1151 into the garage for service this fall.
Covered tailgate chains with spare bicycle tube including required drain holes.
Spot checked front camber 0.2-0.3 degrees.
