UPDATE:
Took my HMMWV out last weekend. Drove 5.5 hours from Portland out to Christmas Valley and played on the trails and sand dunes for 4 days. The Air Lockers worked flawlessly and not a drop of gear oil out of the vent lines. I kept my homemade catch cans on the diffs so I could monitor and...
Here's the fix: My installer Leonard, drilled a 1/4" hole at a 22.5-degree angle upwards in through the bottom right "fixture hole" (To clarify: These holes are not "case spreader" holes. A case spreader with ruin your diff because it's aluminum so don't use one) The pictures above should give...
Sucks about the tendon, takes forever to heal. Be very careful where you buy half shafts. There is a huge batch of GSP H1 Rear Half shafts that are being sold that are too long. I even had them contact the warehouse in CHYNA! The warehouse was like "oh yeah you're right they're too long. But...
Matt,
So I pulled my diffs out again (8th time this summer, grrr...) and taking them to my guy this afternoon. He will drill relief holes under the carrier bearing seats to allow the oil to drain back into the main case. Apparently, Jeep AMC 20's diffs already come with relief grooves in them...
What I learned: The ARB locker and shims sit close to the journal bearings not allowing gear oil to drain back quickly enough into the main housing area of the diff. Has nothing to do with the locker operation. When driving it pumps oil in between the journal and stub shaft bearings, can’t drain...
Few months ago I started having problems shutting down my HMMWV. I'd kill the switch and count to 5 before it would die. Pulled IP fuel cutoff plunger, totally clean and smooth. Checked the wires, they work fine. It was acting like the power was slowing dissipating away hence having to count to...
Yep, after getting all kinds of wrong info you're right. (Not that I doubted you...) Talked with engineering at Niehoff this am. Confirmed what you said. Told me they had to keep the outer diameter of the alternator a specific dimension so that's why they had to put outer terminals and use...
I'm switching out my 200amp alt to a 400amp alt. Anyone know if you "have to" run a second set of positive and negative battery cables to the 400 amp alternator? The 400 amp alt has two pos and two neg posts on it. I know you have to connect a jumper cable from the rear posts to the front posts...

Inner bumper brackets
I ended up just buying an A2 bumper but I had to make the two inner brackets. Since I had to fab them up I reinforced the back of the bumper with a large piece of 5/8" plate.
I had all the pictures from this summer when I did a custom install of a Red Doc A/C Unit on my M998. Here's a link to my blog with the install article. If you like the WAGNUM: WAR WAGUNS blog there will be more good stuff to come. Stay tuned. Thanks Guys
FYI, I'm starting a HMMWV blog on DriveTribe.com "WAGNUM WAR WAGONS"
Kind of a cool blog page started by the boys formerly of Top Gear. A conglomeration of anything to do with driving.
If I can get 8 members to join then the blog page will go live. Any member of the blog page can post...
if I had a helmet top, I'd do this. Couldn't be too hard to fab up a swing arm bracket. It might get annoying if you use your bed a lot. I thought this looked the best for the helmet setup.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH HOSE!! If I remember right, I didn't have a lot of the smaller line left...
I've seen a few different Pioneer Tool Hood Racks for the HMMWV's. Fabbed this one up out of aluminum, not perfect but it will work. Got a great deal on the quick-fist clamps on Spamazon.
I'm looking to make my own airlift bumper. Does anyone have a drawing with dimensions of the bumper and brackets? Or, is there anyone in the Portland, Oregon Metro area that would let me come by and take some pics and measurements? Really appreciate the help.
