6.5 NA What is the actual Redline of this engine?

Do you think it'd be OK if I set my shift points at 3300 or 3350 pm at 100% throttle? I thought I read that the 6.5na had a slightly higher rpm range than the 6.2na?

6.5 NA What is the actual Redline of this engine?

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. Some say 3500 rpm, others say 3600 rpm etc... I did the 4L80e 4 speed swap and I'm trying to set my shift points (Quick 4 TCM after market controller) so I'm maximizing what limited power I have. What is the redline difference between the 6.2 and...

    Winter & HMMWVs

Removable floor drain plugs is a good idea. My M998 always started really hard in the am after a cold night, crank and crank then a lot of white smoke. The block heater solved the issue but didn't really address the problem. I finally got around to swapping out my glow plugs and now it starts...

    HMMWV Glow Plug Condition?

Yeah I lucked out. Can you tell how a diesel engine is running by looking at its glow plugs, in the same way you can tell how a gas engine is running by looking at the spark plugs? If so, does anyone see anything I should be concerned about with my 6.5na motor? Appreciate the help -Wags

    HMMWV Glow Plug Condition?

Replaced my glow plugs today. 4 were swollen, managed to get them out with vice grips and a flat head. I don't know how old these glow plugs were but I was getting long cold starts with a lot of white smoke. Any thoughts / comments on how these look? Do these reveal any issues with my 6.5 n/a...

HMMWV M998 Red dot A/C Custom Install

So far so good. There's about a 13" -14" gap from the core of the condenser to the cargo cover and there's also a side opening at the rear near the tailgate. I noticed the cargo cover bows and tie-downs hold the cover slightly away from the fender allowing air through. The condenser fans are...

HMMWV M998 Red dot A/C Custom Install

I wish I had the fender mount condenser and the fender vent grill like you. I just figured I'd use what came in the kit for now. FYI, other guys weren't kidding about how cool this thing is. I've been picking icicles out of my eyebrows...

HMMWV M998 Red dot A/C Custom Install

Part 3 I also added two 24v puller fans to the top of my cooling stack, these are not related to the A/C install. I mounted the evaporator between the front seats so I wouldn't lose the utility of being able to convert to a full size bed. Also, I still have full visibility out of the back...

HMMWV M998 Red dot A/C Custom Install

Part 2 The instructions say you can reach through the fan blades and get to the 5/16" allen bolts to remove them. Maybe my 4 year old could reach in there, but I ended up slicing up my forearms and very frustrated. I ended up pulling apart the cooling stack. Its a huge hassle but, you can...

HMMWV M998 Red dot A/C Custom Install

Been working on my Red Doc A/C install for a few weeks, thought I'd share what I did and why. Box came sealed up NOS manufactured in 2006, appeared unopened Heard a rumor that some kits don't come with the 5 groove pulley but mine did The card board on the back of the condenser kept...

Red Dot A/C in Soft Top HMMWV

This is my v-belt setup. My water pump pulley has 4 grooves. Does the Red Dot A/C water pump pulley have more grooves? i.e. 5 or 6 groove pulley?

Red Dot A/C in Soft Top HMMWV

Yep. Got my manifold gauges and a vacuum pump ready to go. There are several types of R-143 out there. A lot of them advertise they contain different "stop leak" or "extra fast cooling" additives in them. My plan was to get straight up plain R-134. Can anyone recommend a good brand?

Red Dot A/C in Soft Top HMMWV

Good advice. Guess I'll clamp the hose and pull it off the fan. Can you just hold your air hose against the fitting to pressurize the fan, and with the other hand remove those 5/16 aliens? (I'm dumb, you must just pressurize the fan so you can turn it and align the access for the 5/16 allens)...

Red Dot A/C in Soft Top HMMWV

I have a Red Dot A/C kit coming on Friday; someone told me I'll need to find a new water pump v-belt pulley with an extra v groove to accommodate for the belt on the compressor because the kit does not include one. I've never heard this mentioned before and everyone else says the kit come with...

4L80e: Getting RPM signal to my aftermarket TCM

Thought you guys might know the answer. A month ago I finished my 4L80e swap and used an aftermarket US Shift Quick 4 TCM controller. The only piece of the puzzle I have left is getting a tach signal to the TCM. I also just installed a NOS HMMWV tach and pulled signal for it from the two wires...
