RE: Re: RE: M35 alternator pulley needed
Of course, that will work great too. I was giving the "Wife is home and doesn't know I can actually use the oven" scenario.
That would work in my M715 too. Guess I need to find another now.
There is just no way to gauge how much we all learn from someone elses project and idea.
Looks great! I like the place you put the dome light. I have been holding mine in different spots to see where I want to put it. I like the way yours came out.
RE: Re: RE: M35 alternator pulley needed
Don't hammer the new one on. It will push the shaft back and screw stuff up. A little lubricant, line up the key ways and a few gentle taps should get it on far enough for the nut to thread. Run it in without the washer, remove it and then put the...
I know exactly what you mean about the junk yard guy. I don't have a spare at this time. I might know where a few are. All in Texas though which wouldn't make it worth your while. I will look around.
You can register it as a former military vehicle in Texas. They have the same restrictions as the classic car ones. Basically, don't drive it to work or school every day.
You are exempt from inspections and the bumper numbers can be your license number too. All this for $10.00 per year...
Call this place and ask for Rusty. He knows exactly what tube you need for the Michelin tires. They have radial flaps as well.

Yes, my top valve on the oil filler is closed. That is because I have no hood or any body except for the cab tub right now. Trying to keep the rain/wasp/stuff out of the engine. I reach down and open it before I start the engine though.
If you look below the really nasty looking air regulator in the second picture. You will see 3 cables coming through the firewall. those are the fording valve cables. They go to a single handle to pull. I have yet to find a spare anywhere. If you see one, grab it because it is what you need.
I took a picture of each fording valve on the engine a few minutes ago. Only the one on the air cleaner is still hooked to the cable because my cab is coming off soon.
RE: Here
Sorry about the mis directed credit on the oil filter. I looked at location and "knew" it was the guy in SD.
The fitting on top of your valve cover is supposed to have a valve attached. I will look at mine tonight, but the one on top of the air cleaner with the wire holding it is...
Maccus in SD gets all the credit for the oil filter conversion. Those are his pictures and his idea.
Getting the manuals really helps. Italylovers on E-bay has the ones you need. She sells them every now and then. Send her a message. Most of the ones we need sell for around $50+ on E-Bay.
I also have a '53 REO. There should be two hoses going from the oil filter to the block. If you look at the block directly below the carb, you will see a plate. That plate has 2 holes in it. The top hole on the plate connects to the top fitting on the filter. Of course, the bottom fittings...
Pins J and C go to the blinker system. I imagine that C which goes to wire #22 was the orginal brake light "out" to the rear. What was pin J for? It goes to wire A if you have the old relay blinker system and turns into wire 460/461 for the solid state systems.
I guess I should have asked...
This is a dual purpose question. It will help with my 1952 M35 work and I just want to know.
What vehicles first used the 3 lever switch? Do they all have the power to the blinker circuit built in?
I ask because my Gasser switch looks the same and has the same number of pins out the back as...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Front winch install progress..slow,
Make sure the slip joint actaully slips easily before you go pushing it all the way in too. I have two complete trucks with winch, but only one winch. I used the shaft that was on the truck when I went to put it together. It didn't...
RE: Re: RE: Re: Front winch install progress..slow, but movi
Follow the advice and protect the radiator. I poked a big hole in mine putting the winch in last month.
The Winch drive shaft has a spined slip yoke on the PTO end. If you loosen the collar on the splines, it will compress enough...
