RE: Re: RE: M715 Conversion....need advice
Running my 396/NV4500 powered 715 at 60 mph for 45 miles gets my t-case temp up to 260-270 degrees. Keeping it below 2000 rpm in 5th (54 mph) with the XZL tires lets the case temp stay around 210-220. I also did the center output conversion. I have...
I just put my winch back on my winch truck. I had the frame extensions off for painting along with redoing the winch itself and painting all the parts that go along with it. They aren't kidding when they warn you about putting a hole in the radiator. Mine now has a nice hole in it.
The front...
I got the gasket in the mail the other day. One side is copper and the other is normal modern head gasket material. Which way goes up? The copper side is smooth with no marking. The other side has a few words and numbers, but no "this side up" on it.
Thanks.
Thank you gentlemen.
I realize a google or yahoo search will find answers to just about anything you want. But, I trust the answers given here and therefore ask important questions here.
Is the head bolt torque specs and tightening sequence the same for the M37 and the civilian engine?
I figure it is, but it doesn't hurt to ask. We are ready to put the head back on Sermis' M37 and all I have here in my class is a book with old car specs.
Thanks.
I was thinking about that and realized it would make a clean spot on the big ugly and we don't want to do that.
Actually the one I spoke of is the drivers side. The passenger side is still on the spare cab. I will pull it or the one off the parts Gasser whichever is better this weekend.
You can have one of my rusty looking hinge assemblies. I have to look on the one you trailered home. If it is decent, you can have the really good and just today student cleaned one off the parts cab.
I have 3 here in my class right now. You can track my Gasser progres by what parts we are working on.
Do you just need the wing nut or the nut and stud?
The stud is just 1/2" coarse on one end and fine on the other end
I agree, these engines are great stock. I recently got mine running for the first time since somebody else gave up on it in 1981. I haven't had the truck over 25 mph yet, so I can't comment on anything but off road grunt right now.
Thanks for the info on parts and later versions. I will keep...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: New MadDawg M725 - now with more meat!
I don't know what milage the tires are rated for. But, I have about 5K on my already USMC used XZL tires and I can't tell any wear yet. Except for where I tried climbing a cliff at the FE last June. Sitting in the tailgate and...
Looks good. I have to do the same to mine. Were all your side board/tail gate pins good? Mine only has the pins at the ends and they look bad so I need to replace all the pins and was wondering what source you used if you went that route.
Looks like I will be investing in some cinder blocks...
I can't remember where I saw this, but I think it was in some kind of street rod type article about thermostat selection. I also don't have a copy, so I am going to paraphrase from memory.
A cast iron engine is designed to operate at a temperature that allows proper clearances to develop...
Is there a best place to get a stock M37 head gasket? I ask because the local NAPA and Autozone seem to be able to get them in the $30 range. I can't see a value to buying from the normal military supply housings. Am I missing something?
Thanks.
A normal tank is about 15" tall. Therefore, every 3 inches is equal to 10 gallons of fuel. Unless you are leaving after filling up on a long drive, just figure you only have a 40 gallon tank.
Here is one on E-Bay right now.
