Well, yes, but it is not practical to be used for starting, like the M809 trucks. Priming after a fuel filter change, yes, but you need soldier B to pump it if you want it to behave like the M809 trucks, and even then, it won't be spraying fuel past a glow plug.
He could certainly pump it to...
There is no glowplug in the M939 trucks. The M809 trucks, which use the same basic engine, have a glowplug and primer pump to use for cold starts. But, for M939 trucks there are neither, hence the ether start feature.
The block heater does work wonders too. A couple of hours of heat and no...
Congratulations! Well, GL is usually (at least partially) responsible for the driveshaft and body dents, but not the cut wires or disassembly. That is all military. Looks like a nice project.
Four batteries makes a HUGE difference in cranking speed when cold. With these monsters, cranking speed is what you need.
Also, are you giving it any throttle when cranking? I've found some of them like it and some don't. The cold start instructions say give it some throttle, but I've seen them...
You should not need it on an M813, if you follow the cold start procedure. The glowplug and primer work wonders.
But, if you do use it, spray it into the intake mushroom for just a second, then jump in and start it. Don't use the glowplug...
It was serial #300002, not #300003. It was a very early production truck, in fact it might have been the first or second one built. The early trucks in all of the factory photos all rolled of the line with 4-color camo. The stamped plate is interesting. This might have been the second production...
The post was referring to the M939 series, which are set up differently than the M809 series. No glowplug or primer pump. It's Ether or nothing, unless you install the block heater, which seems to be the way to go.
No halftracks and you might have already seen these, but...

I'm not sure what a HMMWV A2 tie-down looks like, but it probably does not swivel. And, if it does, it is probably more like the tie-down in an M105A3 trailer, or the M1101/M1102 trailers. Those are different than the style that are welded to the bed sides.
I seriously doubt those little tabs...
I'll be coming up on Saturday.
I can bring a new-in-crate MEP-003 Acoustic Supression Kit, if paid in advance. SOLD
I also have a lightly used 14-bolt rear. Jasper rebuild. Low miles. 4.10s, open rear. New brakes and axle seals. Fits square body Chevys. $300, if paid in advance.
Bruce, I was just thinking that you were the one who introduced me to him, those many years ago. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
