I don't see losing the extra rear axle if you don't want to make the truck smaller....you lose the load capability and the walking beam suspension when you do that mod.
You would lose some weight but turning radius would not be improved much, if all.
I would skip the M818 and go to an M916......more HP, better drivebility...already has a big winch on back. Prices are not much higher than a M818 as far as I can tell.
You are already going to have to have a Commercial Driviers License, commercial plates, Medial Card and Commercial insurance...
Should be a standard size since the CUCV's were basically civy vehicles modified for military use.
There may be an anti-siphon device in the filler neck......you may want to try to put an "Arkansas Credit Card" (piece of garden hose) down into the tank and see.
Oil out of a fryer is subject to have water in it due to frying frozen food in it.
I use two bluejean pant legs tied at the bottom to filter out the crispies and then set it out in the sun in the 5 gallon cubies to heat up (in the summer).....most of the water will settle out and you can pump...
If you want an M123 there are three withing 5 miles of my house...one is pretty thrashed and prob only good for parts.
The other two are fair and one good truck out of them...they actually belong to a scrap dealer but he has not sent them to China yet....I think he considers them "money in the...
I was in the 501st in 1973-74. I was a teletype operator. I was reclassed from the infantry due to a training accident (FUBARED my left knee) and switched to Signal. Back then there was very little money for travel so they cross trained a bunch of us at a school set up at Campbell.
I never lit one of those things without losing a significant amount of arm hair....they will flash out in a heartbeat. They would heat oil fast but you would have to be very careful not to get it hot enough to catch fire.
That is very similar to the one I remember.....the main difference was that the one I saw had glass over the tubes to make more heat......of course the problem could be that the plastic pipe I have might not stand up to much heat......hummmmmm.
Years of driving tractor trailers and other assorted vehicles taught me that a short trailer will make a fool out of you fast......I could put a 53 foot box trailer anywhere I wanted it....put a 20 foot shipping container on a rail behind me and I looked like a newbie.
Years ago I remember seeing an idea for heating a swimming pool by using convection.
The idea was to take a coil of black plastic pipe and put it into a black 4x8 plywood box covered with glass.....the water would be heated and move by convection from the pool to the heater and back to the...
Clinto and clintogf (Clinto's Girlfriend) are members on here......Clinto is the organizer of the (in)famous GA Rally held every October.
Do a search for his posts and then click on his Avatar...you can then PM him.
Just look under it's tail.roflrofl
If you got that for 1500 bucks you stole it.....can't believe the owner didn't know the price of scrap.
Is all the machine shop equipment still in there? If so you could prob sell the body for more than you gave for the whole thing.
The old steam powered tractors (or traction engines if you prefer) were huge lumbering beasts that shook the ground when they moved along the ground.
The new boilers are a lot safer than the old ones......you still have to be mindful of the line pressure.
The biggest problem of hooking the...
Prices are traditionally higher on the far left coast.....I'd keep an eye on Kansas or OK.....even with shipping/driving you can prob do better than a CA truck.
Thanks.....all I needed was another hare brained concept to keep me up at night.:cookoo::roll:
IMHO the best way to make that work would be to use the steam engine to run a electrical genny and then run the deuce with an electric motor mounted where the multi is now....you could still use the...
