... get a clean oil barrel/buckets, remove the return hose and put over/in buckets (may have to use some pvc pipe to channel it if can't get buckets close enough), crack the supply hose to allow air in, then use a come-a-long to collapse the cylinder/it may return by gravity if the boom is...
I have rubber pads that bolt to the paddles of a concrete mixer - small'ish electric one. Rubber pads stop things getting caught around the paddle blades/brackets. This is good for items like towbar feet/ground spade pockets or similar size.
For smaller parts - nuts n bolts etc., I cut a...
John - I was looking through the -10 TM and see that the roller is somehow used for hooking up the trailer. Ex-motor pool/transport chaps to speak up now!
2-23 "e. For M916A1 and M916A2, when coupling to M870 semitrailer, pay out winch cable (2-28 and attach to gooseneck on trailer...
Having got your permit you ought to go find a local farmer or excavating business - go ask them if you can "drive along" with one of their 'better' drivers.
They may have older equipment but all experience is valuable, plus it's going to be local haul not OTR. Their insurance will cover...
I wanted to add this to the first post as a good start point for reference.
But I don't appear to be able to edit the first post to add this pic:
Use this pic to reference different tools for further discussion/tips.
If you are talking about the tool that is top right, under the 'Edit' drop down, then you can't change it's size, you wouldn't want to, it's 1 pixel wide, so you can really get down to shaving blocks when copying or deleting. The box/polygon tool, bottom four tools (with oval/round and...
Yes, so long as the image is "clean", and by that I mean that black and white line drawings are exactly that - either black or white. Zoom in on selected areas to see individual pixels, lots of 'copied' images get corrupted with other near whites and dark grays. You may have to draw a white...
Photo modification
Tips for finding the tools necessary for a simple modification of a photo. Handy for 'visualising' ideas prior to measuring and cutting real truck.
Example here is to see what an extra tool box would look like added behind the bumper of an M916A1 to 'fill the gap' left when...
John, that is just a fantastic build - so simple yet looks so right!
Any room under the bed to respool the winch and have it pay out from the bottom of the drum then back over the original roller but under the bed? (Not great for loading assist of bed, but ok for loading on the trailer.)
I don't have one of these tow bars but am wondering what the set up is. I was looking at your pic 1 and trying to understand the geometry considering the teeth on the 'inside' of the legs - is this some kind of geared knuckle joint, so the legs stay symetrical to the perpendicular line between...
Oh jeez - I so feel your pain. I've had my 816 for just over a 1 year and don't seem to have made a dent in it yet - paint wise anyway, but boy, would I love to be half as far on as you are - great job and I really do empathise with the 'no finger prints' thing...
Planning next years family holiday and was hoping that 'events' were posted in the calendar but it appears that it only has birthdays - seems a default programme kind of function. Can post an event - but no one has.
There is a forum for up coming events - full of comments, but I was hoping to...
OK - so other than your questions in post #43 - which I tried to cover in post #44, what else are you unsure of that wasn't covered in either the TM or the other threads in the 5 ton section?
Didn't look at any of these specifically - just copied the shortcut from the 5 ton forum, search "towing" results...
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?95473-Towing-a-5-ton-behind-a-5-ton&highlight=towing...
You are in the DEUCE forum... try searching same in the 5 ton forum - there is a bazillion related topics there. But so as not to appear snide and sarchastic....
TM 9 2320-260-10.... 2-90
It only has power steering if the engine is running but if your question is related to effect of forcing...
Couldnt delete the duplicate.. so I'll add.
If using standard gun ring supports, you'll probably have to rearrange/make alternative supports for rotating beacon UNLESS its a real early one - note the grille and used the red flasher next to the left turn lamp instead of rotating beacon(s).
