Other than the "European theatre" that juanprado mentioned?...! Now do a search for "lollipop"...... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/58685-who-has-lollipop-lights-their-deuce.html ......etc.

    wrecker rope

That would work for 1/2 "... Do you have the pulley blocks or do you just need rope? What's the price/availability (loctn and weight for shipping) on the Green Line?

    wrecker rope

Is that the New Your or the London underground? What's "green line"?

    wrecker rope

Way too much idle time while I eat breakfast! [I was expecting a curved line, as strength should be related to cross section area not diameter!] Looks like your illusive 1/2 inch should be around 800 lbs. 8)

    wrecker rope

Didn't see a 1/2" rope listed. Which wrecker are you working from? - These excerts were from the M816 TM. Then there are the rope tackle blocks too....

Manila Rope? Are these the one you are talking about?

    Winch cable

Swivel vs fixed winch hooks Swiss - peacemkr is on the money. Swivel hooks should only be used on woven or cables that do not have a memory and multi fall crane hooks. A regular twisted winch cable will 'unwind' some when loaded, so in a long pull, the cable will unwind as it's being wound...

    Daft question, but ...

Do you know how many PAGES of results you get when you search for BTT or Bump!!! None I saw on the first page had it in the thread title. Have had this problem before - a search will show results for all individual words of a query, but won't look for the actual combination that would be way...

    Daft question, but ...

BTT...... Bump....... Does either of these mean "ditto" or "I second that"...? had assumed but not positive. Kind of a 'derr' statement I 'spose. Have been meaning to ask ever since I joined the fray. ( And I am surprised that they're not lumped into the banned 'text speak' which...

    Front tow pintle

QD idea - OTT? Is this over the top? NB it's going on a wrecker which already has a load of heavy extras (BII) so it wouldn't be out of place... Includes lifting ring, same as whiffle tree, also stiffening.

    14.00 x 20 retreads

Recap ID'ing? Stoopid question - but is it easy to tell these apart from 'virgin' rubber? I just picked up two "new" NDCC's (bar grip) in 1100x20 from VintageIronMatt(sp?) and didn't even think to check or ask.... AND I GOT THEM TO GO UP FRONT.... :| wouldn't be too bad - but at 36600 lbs...

    Front tow pintle

Great idea - I may use some receiver tube off cuts to make the lower parts of my QD design that will allow me to use any insert.

    Front tow pintle

Yea, that was part of my reasoning too. However the winch cable tensioner and the narrowing of the bumper for the winch would dictate that I offset the pintle towards the passenger side a little, but that has an advantage of giving more visibility down the right side of a trailer.

    Front tow pintle

Unclemikey - did you just bolt the hitch on the bumper or add some stiffening behind? .... Additional storage lockers, IR lights, tool holders, removable civi tag - great mods. Arctic camo - never enough of that!
  15. zebedee

    Front tow pintle

I realise that US vehicles traditionally don't have these, since pushing a vehicle infonts bumperettes would not be possible... However most other NATO countries do have front tow pintles, for use with rigid bars and also 'nosing' of trailers or back loading of landing craft etc... AND, I...

    Crane Spreader (M108A2)

Whiffle tree etc. There are other posts showing this setup. I think it was refered to as Holmes gear and was typical civi gear prior to the 'rotator' trucks and underlifts. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/18781-whiffletree-pins.html post #14 & #30 **...

    M936 - Prices?

added costs If you are just getting a wrecker for GL collections, you won't have to worry too much about the correct BII. Collecting this can be expencive if you want the 'right' equipment for 'display/show' purposes and its a throw of the die as to what a GL win will bring you - see other...

    Stolen Recovery Shackle

I was wondering why those shackles were in a locker when I got my truck. Perhaps that's where they should stay 'till they're needed for towing. ... yup, seen their adverts on TV, but none near us sadly.

    Wrecker flasher question

My 816 came with that front fender flashing lamps wire snipped inside the engine bay. I guess it was a lazy fix when the rotating beacon mod was installed. I just took the lamp off since it's redundant now and somewhat confusing to other motorists: "Must be a NASCAR Army truck - turn Left...
