Likewise. As my username indicates, I enjoy the CUCV's very much. I'm casually looking for an A1 myself, which is another reason for the questions.
Thanks,

I have never been able to confirm this (because there are so few of them), but my suspicion was that the A1's were built from the M1031 platform. It would make sense to just put a shelter bed onto an M1031. The VIN on all the A1 trucks I have seen for sale are the same as yours, sort of...
That's a clean looking truck! I'd be interested in a pic of the shipping data plate on the driver's door and Mfr. plate on the drivers door jamb, and also the MWO plate if it has one. Also, I be curious about the first 5 letters of the VIN, but that would be on the MFr plate, too. I'm...
Wow! How many days are you planning on?
Is this a true A1? They're pretty uncommon. I've seen less than a dozen for sale in about the past 7 or 8 years. Did he get more than one?
I'd be interested in seeing some pics of a few things on that truck to add to my collection when you get it back...
Thanks Butch! We have not gone through the adjusting procedures yet, figuring we would try to get the tools first, but we will run through them and see if it helps.
Hmmm.... Well, I thought the location I entered in my personal profile would show up to the left as it does on other forums, but I guess I never really looked. There doesn't seem to be an option to make it show up, either.
Anyway, for purposes of borrowing these tools, location isn't really...
Does anyone have the tools to adjust the transmission linkage on the M211/M135 that I could a) buy, or b) borrow? If I can borrow them from someone, I will send your shipping cost back to you when I return them.
I am talking about the piece of square, solid bar that is used as the gauge for...
I would say you should first figure out if the problem is that the alternators are not charging, or if it is the "classic" M1010 charging system issue. To be sure, you will need a pair of good, fully charged batteries and a voltmeter. Basically, to fix the problem, switch the orange and red...
This subject has always intrigued me (and annoyed me a bit, too). There's lots of mis-information out there, and every magazine article about CUCV's does nothing to clarify it. I have always assumed that the 8800# GVW of the M1008 made someone, somewhere refer to it as a 3/4-ton truck, and it...
M1008/M1028/M1010/M1031 all use a 16x6.5 steel wheel with a LT235/85R16E tire. This is the standard wheel/tire combination for any 82-87 (and probably others) 3/4 or 1-ton Chevy or GMC pickup.
M1009 uses a 15x6(?) steel wheel with 10.00R-15C tires. These are about equivalent to a 31x10.5/15 tire.
Kevin,
That's a very rare truck. It is one of a very few M1028's that were built with the 200 amp charging system of the M1010. Could you post a pic of the manufacturer plate on the driver's door pillar? I recently sold my M1028A3 that was also equipped with the 200 amp system. Aside from the...
