I'm not knocking the idea, just saying that it had to be a shocker. Double wrapping the chain might have held it, if you had enough chain to get it around twice.

According to the registration form, spaces are now $55 each :shock: and $25 for each additional vehicle, plus $6 for each additional vendor pass. I hope that price includes one of each for EVERY spot...

In the -20, it's appendix F, and in the -34, it's appendix E. But, the diagrams are not the best I've ever seen. You can see what else is in the circuit, but it's a little hard to see what's wired into the fuse box where....
I think have heard this somewhere as well. But, given the fact that these trucks were built on the same assembly lines as civilian trucks, I tend to think that is probably not really the case. I could more readily believe it about HMMWV motors, since AMG would have ordered what they needed and...

Will it crank at all, or are the glow plugs the only things that do not work? I checked the 20 manual and it's a little hard to say what could be causing a short like that, since its mostly sensors and indicator lights. There doesn't...
Hmmmm, My experience has always been that it was next to impossible to get a deuce up to temperature, even in 90 degree weather, unless it was working a bit. I would not actually have been worried about idling so much, unless I had just pulled a nice long hill.

I'm not sure what CFM the duece fan was rated to pull, but I would say it is "a lot". With that said, you might have problems trying to find electric fans rated to pull that kind of air, unless you are pulling them off of a big truck. And, as Bjorn points out, you will need a bigger alternator...
That definitely sucks... But just think of it this way: Someone probably posted it to another forum/list as an act of good will and, bless their hearts, they informed someone else about it who was then able to get to it first... :roll:
As Magnus pointed out, the military used the "J" code engine in all CUCV's. This is the same engine that was used in heavy duty (non-emmmission) civilian trucks over 8600lbs GVW. The "C" engine was for light duty (emmissions) applications. I, too, have heard that the mil pump had some hardened...

I think you're right on. The cold idle sensor is on the rear of the passenger side head and that's what should be plugged in there.

They both have protruding "spindles" with manual locking hubs, but the D60 will be 8-lug and the 10-bolt 6 lug. There was a civilian 8-lug 10-bolt for 3/4 ton applications, but no CUCV used it. The D60 hub is about 4", while the 10-bolt is about 3". It is noticable...

Actually, 16.5's were standard until 1981, with 16" as optional equipment I believe. From 82-87, all 3/4-ton (not the light 3/4-tons with 6-lug wheels, but the regular 3/4-tons) and 1-ton trucks/vans/Suburbans should definitely have the right wheels. I ran Ford...
The problem with this locker (and why it has such a bad reputation) is not in the design so much as in the fact that the differential of the Corporate 10-bolt axle is not strong enough to handle anything other than light abuse (although I still don't like the idea of suddenly locking axles...
