If the pintle is that tight on the lunette, you should get a bigger pintle. Mine has plenty of slack for an M101, M105, whatever. I'm not sure what it came off of, but I think it was military.
But, the gulf coast surge was salt water. It'll corrode (especially electrical stuff) twice as fast as fresh water.Besides, it's not like they made an effort to dry everything out like you or I would after the water receded.
I guess it comes down to how much they go for and if they were...
It's only the diagnostic hookup. It was hacked off of my M1028A3 and never caused me a problem. I think you should be safe to lose it, harness and all.
HEMMT - Heavy Expanded Mobility Mactical Truck??? :? I do like the sales statement "this is absolutely the best HEMMT in private hands.". Did he verify that for sure? It looks clean, but it's got the wrong cargo bed and no crane? IMHO, for that money, it would have to be basically new and it...
They're not that water tight. Fording 30" of fresh water with a well maintained truck is one thing, but submerging under 10+ feet for a few weeks is entirely different. Axles, transmissions, etc have vents that are not sealed. If any of them were near the coast, add some salt water into the mix...
RE: Re: RE: M105 Tow ring flip and other questions.
The design of the pintle/lunette hitch is really what prevents damage over rough ground. The lunette should not spin all the way around without taking the nut off. If I remember, it is keyed top and bottom.
I still say tow it home as is...
I was just about to add that in the interest of time and the PITA factor, drag it home as is and mess with it later. The extra 3-4 inches of ride height won't matter that much.
I just checked GMPartsDirect and their shipping is outrageous!! $18.90 shipping on that card!!!! Their policy is a minimum of 22% item order total!!!
Still, it's only $105, but I'd probably just buy the harness and module from Front Line. Their shipping has to be reasonable.
Front Line is selling the harness and module, according to the NIIN they list. GMPartsDirect only has the module that you plug into your existing harness. Better? If your harness is OK, you bet! But, if you suspect that some wires are funky, replacing the harness might not be a bad idea...
It's not a Dodge, it's a Chevy, purchased by the Canadians in the mid 70's. I believe they were 3/4-ton, gas powered (the 6.2 didn't come out until '81?) and they used full time 4-wheel drive with an NP203 transfer case and, most likely a Dana 44 front axle and 12-bolt rear, but I'll have to...
The wires from the temp sensor go to the card. The yellow wire and the black next to it should be the wire to the sensor, according to the manual.
If the sensor fails open, the glow plugs will operate even when the engine is warm. If it fails closed, they will never operate.
