I pressure washed these parts and set them in the sun to dry. I bought 2 cans of Rustoleum rust reformer and gave them 2 good coats. The last I sprayed on heavy and left them dry over night and into the morning sun. They look great and I am going to install them with the old parts on them. When...
I was working on the Wild Weasel again. Making progress but finding lots of parts onnneed of replacement. I have the rear axle brake line to frame attached. That was a bit of a fight b cause of alignment and the spring wire they put on the steel brake line. That makes it hard to get a line...
Lube up everything really well in the latch and hinges. The hinges can be tricky since they are under the cowl. Real motor oil in a squirt can works best. Spray lubes are a waste of time. Good Luck.
Now I found some Puss I must address going forward. Not a restoration repair but a good strong repair. That would cost lots of time and materials to fix that mess. Take Care.
After work I thought I would do some work on the Wild Weasel. I wanted to change the transmission mounts. That wasn’t going as planned. I needed to remove the crossmember because the steel bushings were seized in the mounts. The crossmember bolts needed changed anyway. They were very rusty and...
I have no idea of what lift it is. I am just installing it. Normally I remove lift kits for local car dealers and return vehicles to stock. 2 years ago, I removed 2 lowering kits from vintage square body 2WD pick-ups and a 454 Suburban. I returned them to stock. People add this lifting and...
Today after working 11 hours at my ft job I made a simple goal to get the rear axle installed and get the vehicle up on jack stands under the rear axle. My goal as met and the axle is back in the vehicle. My goal was met early and I went out to eat supper with friends
Last night I made a little progress. The lift kit springs are a huge PITA. I replaced the pinion seal and yoke. The original yoke had a broken bolt on it. Moving along. I hope to get the rear axle under the truck tonight.
I have used rubber hydraulic hoses on snowplow trucks for transmission cooler lines and oil cooler lines. On my off-road truck, I added an auxiliary trans cooler up front to make up for the heat entrapment in the rubber/metal wound hydraulic hoses. I even put a power steering fluid cooler on my...
I was at the hardware store a while back and seen some fancy vice grips by Milwaukee. I looked them over and bought a pair. I have 50 pair of vise grips, but these had cushions on the handles, and I wanted to give them my endurance test. Well, here we are I used them 3 days and they are...
It has been a long hot day her in south central PA. I have the fuel tank back in and the skid plate. I want to get some screws for the interior cover. I installed a new fuel sock and the new straps were bolted on both ends and they were easy to install. That nylon webbing worked great as...
Dear Energy Suspension : How do I install rear shackle bushings with only 3 bushings? Please forgive my ignorance. It may be simple but I understand I am a simple man.
I keep thinking about this and I would think it is time to do a body divorce from the frame and do it right. I lifted that body off washed and painted everything. That was 18 years ago. I am guilty of being the one that drove that vehicle thru all the bad weather and salt. It seems like we have...
I have been using the mower. And yes, I like it. It is not a Honda, but it will do the job. The controls are not as comfortable to the hands as the Honda. After 40 years of using the same mower, I guess it will take time to adjust. Next year I am buying a remote mower and putting lawn mowing in...
