4L80E swap is good as it gets for fundamental simplicity and form & fitment. The civvy Squarebody guys have been swapping them in for decades, and in most cases it only takes a few hours.

I wouldn't like mine to be titled as homemade as it isn't...it has a serial no already stamped on the frame. Highway Patrol will not be as helpful as much as the DMV/MVD will be. From my research, most states will issue a bonded title off of a Bill of Sale...a small fee for the bond surety and a...
Please keep any derogatory comments off here as they are unnecessary and unwanted. You may be used to that from other groups on other medias, it's not ok here.
As many others, I don't always get the notifications or work and family take precedence. If you don't see an answer that suits you...
Find a used electric range to use in conjunction with your regular load, adjust the number of burners and level to fit your needs. Opinions will vary as to how much and how often to include it, watching your machine for signs of wetstacking will be your best guide. That range should be enough to...
Another thing to consider when running on a genset for backup power, is "load shunting"...calculate the maximum draw on all individual circuts with an inventory, then before you bring your genset online turn off all unnecessary circuts to prevent an overload condition. You can then toggle...
The opinions of folks will vary as much as Google's AI will when trying to give you an answer to the same question. Bottom line, thankfully nobody was hurt. It could have been anything from a reversed Neutral to a loose connection. Even with pictures it will be difficult to discern the root...
Companies like Rough Country and Smittybilt have been making nerf bar steps for pickups since forever, they usually bolt into pre-existing holes in the frame...if you go this route, search for parts for a 84 K30.
As far as a foldable step on a rope, check out RV accessory stores like Camping...
Since you're in the TM, you can copy/paste the P/N & NSN into Google if you want new stuff if it's out there. Realistically, those are normal GM things that can be had from any 80s Squarebody pickup in a pick-a-parts yard, or from the vintage catalog companies like Brothers, Classic Industries...
The parts you're looking for are available from the original manufacturer Mendenhall Industries, Calvin is the owner...tell him what you're up to and he'll set you up. Croft and eTrailer charge a huge mark-up on these parts...
If a mod doesn't move it, you'll want to make the exact same post in the "Parts Wanted" section.
Also, if you'll get into the parts TM you'll find the part number and NSN (National Stock Number)...you can copy & paste those numbers into Google or eBay if nobody answers your post.
Gear Vendors has a very nice website that's truly a cornucopia of information. You could easily contact their customer service via phone or email. I'm sure they can give you overly detailed answers to your questions, and if you ask nicely I'm betting they will send you all their manuals via...
I'm sure the majority will agree that keeping a battery tender on the individual batteries via a dual-bank such as the Noco 2x2 or 5x2 is preferred over a 24V charging or solar device via the slave port. Reason being, the dual bank units monitors the batteries individually instead of just...
I'd say based on all other machines I've had in a Northern climate, most important for me would be the proper water/glycol mix for the lowest expected tenps...followed closely by having the proper viscosity oil for the lowest expected temps. I would insist on quality AGM batteries, and clean...
@kloppk has the fuse kit and MOV ready to go. @CallMeColt has brass return tees and lines cut to length, and bulkhead fittings for your fuel tanks. There are many others that have parts machines, just make a post on the "parts wanted" section of the forum.

Your question will give just as many opinions as you have imagination.
Genset condition/hours: some will propagate that a higher hour set shows good reliable past performance...in the same breath, some get minimal hour sets with critical internal failures that explain why they got benched. Many...
Pics of the switch are worth 1000's of words.
Many xfer cases are capable of being twin stick'd. I suggest a through underbody inspection so you can better describe what you have so folks are able to actually help you.

It's likely the threaded internal parts that are sized, it's like a nut that runs up & down on a length of threads. I've only ever gotten one to come back around but the vice grips left notable marks I wasn't happy about.

I run Napa 51R AGMs with a NOCO dual bank fixed charger/tender. WLA batteries are not worth the time of day, they just cause problems. Each battery is managed individually instead of them being managed as a pair. I used NOCO's cord plug port on the small square panel opposite of the main cord...
