    Valence's MEP-531A

Happy New Year! I drained the fuel tank by placing the supply hose going to the injection pump into a clean #10 can (took 2 cans as tank was full). I then tipped the generator backwards and placed a 4x4 under one side. The stock fuel tank bushings read "Made in Canada" with, I assume, the part...

    MEP-501/531 wheel kit

At the moment, I just move my MEP-531A around the garage/driveway on a Harbor Freight Furniture dolly. I could see something more permanent being handy.

You're a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you!

    Valence's MEP-531A

Definitely good advice! But I'm not sure where to get the spark arrestor or the rubber plug at the bottom (to filter) and top (fuel return) of the tank. But now, looking at the photos on my computer, there might be readable numbers on the plugs I'll have to inspect closer in better light. As...

    Valence's MEP-531A

On December 9th I made a ~6 hour round trip up to Jerome, Idaho and bought from a police officer an MEP-531A he was tired of moving around for years and hadn't had it running in just as long. Hour meter at time of purchase: 274.9 hours The front panel needs some repair and it is only held on...

    I love generators!!!

For the sake of addressing this for anyone who may visit in the future, I'm just here to to say that my problem was because of operator error and the terminal clips were shorting out between two lugs...

    Valence's 1997 Pribbs M101A3

Thanks swbradley1! Great idea for transporting amateur radio masts too! On Veterans day a week and a half ago, I couldn't pass up yet another trailer load of free firewood (albeit greener and harder to split by hand than I expected) from a small ranch just a couple towns over. The wood...

    Valence's 1997 Pribbs M101A3

Little update in the above post for all y'all: Due to age and sidewall cracking, I'd like to replace all my tires on this trailer, but it's a funds thing and to get them shipped from Feltz Tire. Local to me Boyce Equipment's HMMWV tires are all 8+ years old at the time of this writing...

    Valence's 1997 Pribbs M101A3

I have had other projects that were far more labor intensive (such as restoring my deuce's wooden troop seats and bows, or installing the cab reinforcement bracket), but this spare tire hoist sure wore me out and took 3 times longer than it should have and I broke 2 hoists. Lessons...

I have relocated the military 12-pin plug to be strapped down via a pair of footman loops on the toolbox. I used 16 gauge steel backing plate on the inside of the aluminum toolbox. Perhaps I should have put the footman loops towards the bottom of the box, but this works too.

I have added 8"x4"x1/4" backing plates for the Hi-Lift jack mount. I suppose this shows that the front mount is slightly crooked. :shrugs: An unrelated note, in the first photo you can actually see that the hue of the left plate (painted with Rapco 383 Green substitute) is an exact match...

Thank you! I like the addition of the additional angle iron to help hold the tire stable. Great photos; that helps me a lot.

Yes, all bolts are directly to the metal of the trailer. Great suggestion. I'll have to do that for the spare tire hoist and, at minimum, for the Hi-Lift jack, as I see those mounts as the most susceptible. The jerry can mounts probably wouldn't hurt, but I do see those as less likely as they're...

    Valence's 1997 Pribbs M101A3

Certainly quite valid points I haven’t considered. However, these HMMWV tires have runflats so the wheel doesn’t have quite as far to “fall”. Even if so, I don't think it’ll be too hard to find/stack something to drive the flat tire onto for needed clearance to access the spare. Interestingly...

Now, a rather important subject: Where to put the spare tire. The spare would have fit very well in front of the cargo box on the tongue (where I put the toolbox); such as how this fellow on Facebook did his: However, without a specially designed mount, the spare tire would been in the way of...

    Valence's 1997 Pribbs M101A3

I had a tan toolbox I kept from a previous 3kw generator trailer that I had sold. I painted the exterior with Rapco 383 green substitute. I then cut off the 'U' storage mount for the 12-pin military trailer plug, and painted the section of frame rail. (I still need to find a new location where...

Now, I do have spare tire for this trailer (that I still need to mount, but that's for later) but I thought a Hi-Lift jack would be the most useful jack to use with this trailer. Locally, I found someone selling a like-new (green!) Hi-Lift "Signature Edition", Model PJ-485 (48" long) that I...

    Valence's 1972 M35A2

September 16, 2023: I have seen a number of different ways how people placed a jerry can mount on the passenger step, such as with bolts with wing nuts for quick removal and a hinge on the jerry can mount to swing it down and out of the way. I had been rolling this idea around in my head for so...

I haven't kept up with the usage of my truck, but there hasn't been a lot to report. I need to drive it more. Nov 21, 2021: Drove the deuce to my mother's for thanksgiving. 96.3 dB average in my cab at highway speed according to a free decibel app on my phone (take it with a grain of salt)...

    Valence's 1997 Pribbs M101A3

With the additional fuel carrying capacity, I wanted a fire extinguisher mounted on my trailer and I have a couple extra fire extinguisher mounts I've collected. I considered placing the mount on top of the passenger fender, but with my extinguisher being so tall, I didn't have a good feeling...
