OTR hauling with R6602's isn't THAT bad .. However, your humor is likely correct if it were a Hall-Scott 1091 rofl
At least hopefully these early 5-tons are doing something useful to justify the expense.. OTR nowadays (and in the army) , they seem(ed) to consume about the same amount...
no idea about california but those on here who say not to mention it's a MV are spot-on ... Does anyone recall 35-40 years ago when there was a registration/insurance issue with CJ5 jeeps due to an alleged rollover problem ?? ... I got around that by listing them as Jeep Utility
funny how when we're younger, the whistler's were cool , and they could tell what was coming up the tank trail from a mile away .. Now 40+ years later, I can't stand the things and I need to swap out the "C" turbo in my M109A3 for a "D"
some equip trailers have an adjustable-height pintle ring .. what will it take to convert yours to accept one of those or have one welded onto your trailer tongue ? .. Other than fabricate a construction-type tow plate to weld to the tail of your truck providing a lower pintle independent of...
1; actually, per the TM, the R6602's are only 1MPG less than the diesel and multifuel 5-tons .. I think that's debateable though, I know my gassers drink noticeably more than the others just idling and moving themselves around the property..
2: in the army the gassers needed about 1/3rd more...
bad seal .. it happens ..... does your stack have any evidence of pushing oil yet ?
there is also a pressurized lube pipe for the turbo , is it coming from there?
1: After my first time pulling one and putting another back in by myself the "normal" way (never again) . all 855 cummins' i've dealt with since , commercial and military, i made a jig out of a length of 3/4" heavywall pipe and small pulley that rolls along the pipe .. tuck one end onto a...
the 1960s-70s school bus seat is a neat addition, like most of us i once stared at that logo for countless hours ..
had a chance to grab a wc24 at a junkyard in the 1990s but passed due to the body behind the front seat was torched off by PO to make a crude flatbed carrying racing...
you are absolutely correct ! If i was making stencils more often than a couple every 10 years, i would invest in oilboard .. The WD or silicone is holding out fine .. I am more worried about the dies rusting due to non-use
I know my method is lacking "oil", but in a pinch I have used a manila folders sprayed with a light coat of silicone or WD40 to make stencils ;)
I have a spare 3/4" Marsh electric (!) army surplus machine i should put up for sale , maybe both of them .. I bought them at DRMO Romulus, aka Seneca...
Just a note, my armor BN's gasser M62's were bridge-plated at 18 tons ;)
somewhere around here i have the Transportation FM covering all such technicalities and more
Due to fed budget, the USMC always got the bottom end .. Perhaps there's no safety chains on trailers the USMC received back then (re: budget) .. Besides, my WW2 marine uncle used to always say there was no such thing as a safe marine
Murphy makes all incredibly-mysterious nonsensical things possible ! .. Had a similar situation with a Roosa-Master injection pump on a big ol' Deere , but in reverse... I tipped the decapitated IP upside down to service the shaft seal and voila! , a little pin magically appeared on the bench...
just a note that i have seen your SOS posts but my wrecker got robbed of all the Bll goodies somewhere along the way between the military, forest service, and town highway dept.. I just make-do without it.. It's great you're trying to outfit a wrecker in full !!! I am surprised George didn't...
