A good way to prevent the chaffing of battery cables from vibration is to route them in as safe a place as possible and cut sections of 1/2 inch or larger heater hose and split it lengthwise and put over the cables and zip tie in place. Same goes for radiator hoses(not necessarily in the...
Your 2009 might possibly have been done as a repair and that is what was available at the time. Someone doing a repair might have had the newer switches on hand and used them.
Although the oil in the unit is clean all be it a little thin as you say, you couldn't go wrong changing it out with known break in oil for your own peace of mind.
I would still verify the pressure as you mentioned, that way you will also know if you are getting a correct indication and whether...
You can have the battery load tested to eliminate that as the problem. If the battery has an internal short it will discharge itself and will not sustain a load test.
Try that then test for other drains, like the alternator/diode pack.
You need to disconnect the positive cable and leave the negative on. Measure the resistance from positive cable(not battery terminal) to ground, then reverse the leads and see if that resistance changes.
A shorted diode in the alternator will read a low resistance in both directions. A good...
Good deal. Corrosion can creep/wick into the cables and dissolve the copper over time setting up a high resistance which leads to lower voltage and higher current draw in the circuit.
Thanks for the recommendations on the primer and paint. Looking to doing a little touch up on my set in the...
If your batteries are low, it would help to charge them first before putting all that charging load on the alternator. The alternator should "top off" charged batteries in fairly short order after starting and your meter should return to 0 as proper indication.
Baking soda and water solution will rid the corrosion issue. Remove the batteries first and keep it away from them, it will neutralize the acid in them.
For general cleaning of oil residue, Dawn dish soap in small quantity and hot water. Try to avoid the electrical connections if you can...
I would like to but I don't have a spare hose and I'm not disassembling my set to obtain a sample.....YET......although it may eventually come to that if the info on that hose remains as close to the vest as its been for so long.
Viper was who I was considering contacting for a run of hoses, but I'm not going forward with it unless there is some commitment to buy, at least from owners here on the board.
The last thing I need at this point is 499 unique application silicone hoses sitting on the shelf collecting dust with...
By the looks of things, you'll be having to build another building soon to increase your work/storage area. One things for sure, you'll have an excellent understanding of these generators when all is said and done and a very dependable running unit.[thumbzup][thumbzup]
Correct, EPROM stands for Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory and they are programmed using voltages and UV light to erase them in a specifically built programming jig/machine/box with a specific program by the manufacturer. The stickers are put over the window in the chip to prevent...
Usually, chips(integrated circuits) that have a label bearing the word "REV"XXXX is a chip that has been programmed with data from the factory or flashed with new data post manufacture.
Unless one knows what the chip does via a schematic, and what data is programmed into it, it is unlikely to be...
Guy, I'm working with a real piece of crap computer right now. When I get better computer capabilities I will do just that and include diagrams as well and hopefully get some of the people who don't understand what's involved to be able to get a better picture of things "electrical".
