You might want to double check the hood and roof as there are replacements for the metal ones that are fiberglass. That might be what you have already.
Were the old lines capped or taped to prevent critters and debris from getting in to them? Not knowing how long the old pump was off. If not you may want to take them down and blow them/flush them out. Of course you have probably thought of that though. If you were not lucky enough to get...
Please preserve it. I always thought these were awesome and unique vehicles. Lots of expertise here on SS to help you thru the project. You don't have to take a big bite financially all at once. The restore can be done slowly. Very worthwhile. Best of luck and keep us posted as to what you...
As for the sprag vs air shift TC--For me the sprag is cool as it is kind of like an automatic 6 wheel drive when needed. you don't have to do anything. the downside is that it can be tricky to keep in proper working order. in my mind there is a question you get when your tires are losing...
I agree. I think my A2 (66' K-J) must have some reused gas parts at least as far as the shifter goes. rubs a little on the high low lever in 1st high but clears the dash fine otherwise. gets closer in reverse but no contact. all in all pretty comfy to use with out having to shift body position.
air shift install
Thanks Clinto! Sounds like air brake line might be a better option than copper tubing. If I understand it is a metal material or did I misunderstand? 3/8" dia ? I assume a small hand operated tubing bender would work with it.

I have seen a couple different "kits" on the popular auction site you likely speak of. One looks to be a kit to rebuild the inerds of the TC internal air switch side. While the other one I was hesitant about because I could not for certain see the under dash switch. Any chance you could clue...
Thanks to OP for starting this thread. I am going to be doing the same thing. Convert sprague to air shift. I don't want to hijack the thread but is there a conversion kit with the hard parts? have the TC just need the bits and pieces. Perhaps the OP picked one up for this project.
I suppose its true what they say," behind every good man is a good woman", especially if the man is in the truck that is pulling that trailer. Think Desi and Lucy in The Long Long Trailer. posted with a smile and kind heart.
Hello to you from 80536, Livermore Colorado. Do you have a lot of experience with military vehicles? Seems like you know your way around the 5 ton truck.
Cranetruck--got my vote. I was in germany 71 and happened to see one. Awsome then and awsome now. How did it get back from Germany? or did this one never make it over seas?
Yep, My thoughts as well. However the trailer is supposed to have a ground rod installed when its powered up. So the only questionable part would be the shore cable. As most Rv receptacles are grounded at the plug-in it should still work OK. carrying a ground from the trailer to the RV site...
