Outstanding find!! Is there a reason we can't mention the location of the find. Was it Jane Fonda's place or Ted Turner spread? Inquiring minds would like to KNOW  LOL
Mike, congrats on your new track. Your in for quite the ride now .. they get under your skin, and as my good freind Wendell (68t) points out, you sir are a "Halftrackman"!
New tubes and flaps arrived today from Coker and they fit together beautifuly. Decided to order new flaps to match the tubes and there is a difference between Coker flaps and the Lucas flaps that I had. Lucas flaps are very thick at the stem hole. Will post some pics tomorrow to show the...
CM, no nut ..had a clip that fit over the stem and into the wheel.. Thank you for the info .. have done lots of tires on my vehicles, usually because tire shops will no longer work on these wheels (afraid of liability issues). Ordered new tubes from Coker. Will update this post after install.
Have been working on Jeep projects but am to the point on those projects that I can break away and get back to my track. Several months ago, purchased the listed tubes on the Lucas site for my new tires. Wheels were blasted and painted, new tubes installed etc. (these are the correct HT Combat...
Got my new Arizona title for a 1942 Ford GPW and plates today. Original title I had when I picked her up was for a 1942 Willys. Just some cleanup of a couple of paint masks, add two more to the front bumper (My star and HQ-1) and I need to let the old canvas top sit out in the sun a bit to...
Doing lots of little but time consuming stuff ... waiting for my top bows .. installed my horn today just to make sure all fits and lines up ..will pull it off for paint. Radiator support rod bracket on radiator was missing, so scrounged one up from a damaged one that I had on the shelf. Got rid...
Installed the siren today and she spins up nicely. Picked up my windshield glass and gasket material and knocked that out. A bit of a PITA, but overall I'm happy with the results. Also installed the patch panel floorboard on the drivers side. Paint Masks came in today so I'll be knocking that...
Before turning in, decided to check out my blackout lights just to make sure all were functional. ...when I walked out into my dark garage I could clearly see the glow of the speedo needle and the 10 and 20 MPH markers on the dial. The new non-iridium material works great!! The lights looked great!
Up early and did my second round of painting to include my wheels. Installed same and started bolting items back onto the body. Windshield will have to wait till next week as I’m traveling the next few days to TX. Going to leave my speedometer bezel in brass …its clear coated so it wont tarnish...
TW, they are brass and are in great shape ... appreciate that info ... did the same thing with several of my zink halftrack plates ...the help and knowledge base on these forums is priceless, like having a team of mechanics in the shop with you!
On a frustrating issue with vendors: The hold-downs that mount on the hood for the windshield arrived in the mail Saturday along with a new brass banjo for the master cylinder brakelines. Banjo spot on, but the hold-downs sent are not correct, they are for the hood!!! Friday a new drivers...
Both rear and front frame members are not up to snuff, and I will address both ends when I do my body off restoration. At this point I'm just trying to get her looking like a GPW again with some functionality for a movie shoot .... my deadline is the end of May.
I landed up replacing the...
Moving along.. I now have working lights, brakes, the correct steering box, wheel, new exhaust and skid plate.
Need to mount one more hanger on the muffler after cleaning up the caged nut on the bottom of the tub. Also have the bow brackets to install now that I've found and drilled out the...
