Thanks for all the feedback guys!
I would like to build this so it could compete in either 4500 or 4400 classes with just a shock & tire change. 4500 is stock modified which limits tires to 37's and shock diameter to 2.5" (also requires resemblance to a production vehicle and a mechanical...
Hey guys,
Not sure if anyone here is familiar with Ultra4 racing, but this is an offroad race series that combines high speed desert or short course with rock crawling. The most famous race in the series is King Of the Hammers (KOH). I've been racing in Ultra4 since 2012. I started with a...
I've been using 2008. Not sure the exact year range, but that works great. Just so it's clear on ride height: with a stamped steel mount you'll most likely want cut somewhere around 1-1.5 coils and with a cast mount you'll want a small spacer with a full length coil (I'm using 1/2").
Define "Don't work". I ran the ram springs in my last HMMWV and they worked fine. Yes, there are a number of different rates. I wouldn't really recommend them as they're not a great fit, but they worked and rode very nicely, just don't fit as well as the Aramada's.
My current M1123 HMMWV I'm...
Nice job! Here's what I've used: AutoMeter 2225 AutoMeter Gauge Mounting Brackets | Summit Racing
Just need to trim to length and grind a little for clearance (depending on which gauge you use it on).
I've installed them. You need a spacer between them and the floor. Forgot exactly how thick. I also like to add some side bolts. Slap them up there and drill some holes! :p
Where do you buy the Dongfeng doors from? Do you know for sure they'll fit a Humvee?
I 100% agree about the prices. I wish a company like bestop would jump on the HMMWV market and make some reasonably priced doors & tops. I don't see why the same part for a jeep needs to cost 5 times as much...
I run a 6.1 Hemi in my 4wd offroad race car. The engines are great, but the dodge electronics/control system is a nightmare. After lots of time and money and a number of races lost because of issues, I finally gave up on running the computer controlled trans and went with a Holley Terminator...
I don't have the ability to see your video right now, but I'll make a couple comments.
BTM is best used in Low-lock. This will provide the most torque to overcome the applied brake resistance. You can use it in High-lock (or even high), but if your conquering an obstacle requiring...
Real what, springs?
Springs make a big difference, but shocks are the 2nd part of the equation. The stiff stock shocks also cause a very firm ride even with soft springs.
Yes, you'll need longer springs with the cast rear mounts. Although I haven't tried this configuration, I'd recommend starting with no more than 1 coil cut in the rear with the cast mounts (honestly, I'd start with no coils and go from there, hard to put them back on :D)
Some day I may do the 12k shaft conversion, but I've been wheeling my HMMWV pretty hard and no issues with the stock 10k's yet. I've broken a driveshaft u-joint, wore out some steering parts, but no axle issues.
Montana Registered Agent | $49 Montana Registered Agent (49dollarmontanaregisteredagent.com)
They seem very helpful and knowledgeable on the process for HMMWV's.
Good news update. Confirmed that the MT registration agent I'm planning to use could work with just the SF97. Cancelled my title order with GovPlanet yesterday and will receive my SF97 today (according to Fed-ex, I was shocked they sent it overnight).
Just a quick update on the title for my HMMWV I purchased back on 06/02/2021.
4 weeks ago I called them and was excited to hear they finally received my SF97 and were "about to send it to MT for generation of a title which should take no more than 4 weeks". Would have had the SF97 months ago...
Pretty awesome! Is it up and running? (Haven't seen the video) What size turbo did you go with?
I'm a big fan of the LS swap HUMVEE and have been debating going this way. But both are awesome, just comes down to personal preference I guess.
For me, the main pros of a diesel are fuel...
I truly hope you find a solution that lets you keep and enjoy the HMMWV not just sell it. Even if that means becoming a Montana 'business owner'. Don't let some FL bureaucrats take away your awesome retirement present. I mean it's just a CAR. It has seat belts, brake lights, horn, even came...
