The truck in question was made in 1972 by AM General. You are obviously counting no one at DMV realizing that by 1972 Reo Motors was gone.

The engine was designed for 30 weight motor oil in most circumstances - the tag on the dash, IIRC, mentions some exceptions. Because I have two gassers, and several Multifuels - I use the same Rotella T in the gassers that the other trucks get, and have had no problems with this program over...

A different David answering part of this question - but that is an under hood photo of an 809 series truck -and IIRC he has bought a M818 tractor. I MAY have a manual on heater installation, but can't look until Tuesday at the earliest.

You should be able to shift the transfer case while the truck is moving. Were it me, I'd put the transfer in low - drive down the road, making note (or having a helper do it) of the speeds you make each shift, and when you get to the top of fourth gear, low range, for the next shift...

This may sound too obvious - but are you certain the transfer case is in high range? Not just the lever, but the transfer case itself. Carb should be something like FFG884 (this is from memory, someone will surely post the real number) and tag is on base.

In the 1950s Renwall (now defunct) offered a kit of the M62 (either 1/32 or 1/35 scale - don't remember which). Revell acquired the molds, and has offered it at various times over the past 20 years or so.

Congrats on your progress. Indeed, the OA-331 is a fine engine. The truck was literally designed around this engine (the engine was demonstrated to the army before the truck), and it really shows.

Yes, it definately does. The shape of the rubber coupling between the air cleaner and intake tube positively identifies it as turbo-equipped.

I think you have confused an expansible van with a water purification truck body (and some shop trailers use the purification-type body as well).
