    1953 studebaker m108 for sale

I've saved trucks that were more common, and in worse shape - this one is just a bit far from the house. I'm sure someone will make you a reasonable offer though. Regards, David

Unknown year of manufacture - help!

The truck in question was made in 1972 by AM General. You are obviously counting no one at DMV realizing that by 1972 Reo Motors was gone. Regards, David Doyle

    what oil in a gasser?

The engine was designed for 30 weight motor oil in most circumstances - the tag on the dash, IIRC, mentions some exceptions. Because I have two gassers, and several Multifuels - I use the same Rotella T in the gassers that the other trucks get, and have had no problems with this program over...

    Breaking up deuce fire truck

OK, Brian has staked claim to the hard top. The other items are still available. Thanks, David

    Breaking up deuce fire truck

Guys, I am parting out a military fire truck built on a deuce chassis. From past conversations, I know many of you are working on these vehicles. Please take a look at my classified ad here on SS and see if there are any parts that will help you with your projects...

    M62 and 5 ton bumper

The M39 series (including the M62) all interchange, and they interchange of the 809 series - dunno about the 900 series. HTH, David

    Personnel Heater Question

Bjorn, A different David answering part of this question - but that is an under hood photo of an 809 series truck -and IIRC he has bought a M818 tractor. I MAY have a manual on heater installation, but can't look until Tuesday at the earliest. DD

    Depot rebuild truck data plates

I disagree with Kenny - I don't think this is a NOS plate that was made by or for a truck manufacturer....the reason I say this is because the manufacturer's name is blank - to be filled in manually. Clearly, Reo, Lansing Division of White or Kaiser-Jeep (the only people who I recall using the...

    Can't get my m35 over 35 MPH

RE: Can You should be able to shift the transfer case while the truck is moving. Were it me, I'd put the transfer in low - drive down the road, making note (or having a helper do it) of the speeds you make each shift, and when you get to the top of fourth gear, low range, for the next shift...

    Can't get my m35 over 35 MPH

RE: Can This may sound too obvious - but are you certain the transfer case is in high range? Not just the lever, but the transfer case itself. Carb should be something like FFG884 (this is from memory, someone will surely post the real number) and tag is on base. Regards, David

    B29 R3350 ENGINE NOS 4 SALE.

It occurs to me that there is an ol'boy in Alabama that owns a LARGE trucking company - and also collects vintage aircraft. Need any hauling done - might could work a swap. DD

    profit margin..

I've written a couple of books that include values (prices) of military vehicles - and I've bought my share of trucks - so I'll consider myself qualified to chime in here. First of all, if you want a top-quality (as in show-grade) restored truck, by far the least expensive place to buy it is...

    Cool m816 model.

In the 1950s Renwall (now defunct) offered a kit of the M62 (either 1/32 or 1/35 scale - don't remember which). Revell acquired the molds, and has offered it at various times over the past 20 years or so. DD

    Gasser Tune Up

Congrats on your progress. Indeed, the OA-331 is a fine engine. The truck was literally designed around this engine (the engine was demonstrated to the army before the truck), and it really shows. DD

Need help on year of manufacture on my 5 ton.

    B29 R3350 ENGINE NOS 4 SALE.

CAF in Harlingen as well as a group in Wichita IIRC are both re-engining SuperFortresses - give them a try.

Does this engine have a Turbo?

Yes, it definately does. The shape of the rubber coupling between the air cleaner and intake tube positively identifies it as turbo-equipped. Regards, David

    Trailer Mounted Woodshop

My dad has a trailer with left gate, no saw. What you have is definately a bit of Corps of Engineers equipment. The Corps does not assign "M-numbers" to their gear......so you won't find anything that way. I'll try to look into this next time I am at Ft. Leonard Wood. In the meantime, I'd...

Expandable Vans... more correctly Expansible Vans

I think you have confused an expansible van with a water purification truck body (and some shop trailers use the purification-type body as well). Having owned both, I'll continue..... On the expansible van, both sides move straight out, they don't fold like the water truck. The floor...
