We have to be VERY careful.
I was also debating on what to do with my 30 year old mirrors that were is really terrible shape. After looking at new sets, and how expensive they were, and unsure if they were really poorly made, but expensive Chinese knock offs, I spent a lot of time refinishing...
The good news - it did have a clip and it was fairly easy to pull the clip off.
The bad news - the clip was rusted and disintegrated into a pile of rusty sand and the bushing was all but gone from ware.
Cost of replacement for the clip and bushing? $34
If I would have had some remains...
Thanks for the tips. I will first try the hammer and WD40 soak tricks before I order a new motor.
I did find the service manuals, and it says it is a "clip" that connects that eccentric arm to the wiper arm. Sure looks like a bolt on mine - something with threads, but perhaps I am wrong. Who...
I wanted to ask the collective for advice on my M998, which I just discovered did not have functional windshield wipers. I think it is the motor after a bit of testing.
I found a YouTube that pointed me to a connector on the bottom of the windshield which commonly corrodes. I have a hardtop...
Sadly, the ring I obtained from Midwest Military did not last long. Theirs was not OEM as it had their name embossed on the part and did not have the "fitting pins". Worked fine a few times till I made a really tight turn at moderate speed where the steering wheel flipped back rather quickly and...
Maybe mine, which is a M998 is different, but I just did this job a few weeks ago and this worked perfectly for me.
HUMVEE HMMWV FUEL WATER SEPARATOR FILTER + MAIN FUEL FILTER
There is a youTube on the procedure, but it is easier if you drain at the pet cock, then just remove the three bolts...
Well, I bit and ordered the "kit" from Federal Military Parts.
Horrible experience. Order sat for a week and I had to nag them to ship it.
Received it and the "Kit" that was supposed to be "Turn Signal Control Arm Switch With Canceling Ring" came and it did not have the Canceling Ring. WTF...
Wanted to ask the collective if anyone has successfully installed the Self Cancelling Turn Signal Switch, kit 57K3222 on a m998?
The only thread I could find was from a non-HUMVEE tractor and they had to make their own cancel ring to fit their column.
Any pitfalls? Is the AMG Kit plug and...
I went through this a few months ago. It is totally disgusting! It is a decision by some Florida Bureaucrat and not an act of law. They treated me VERY disrespectfully, attempted to take away any value of my purchase, and only wanted to exercise their perceived power.
Perhaps this will help...
Not to hijack your thread, but if they are the equivalent of the Exide military ones, that is a deal as the ones I have found are more than $500 each. Mind posting some NAPA part numbers or other details?
Tag for interest as I am planning on doing this project once the Florida Inferno lifts this winter. I have a helmet top though. The advice I was given was to remove the top as it makes application of all products easier and neater doing the job up-side down on the ground. But that is not an...
I saw that episode. Let one of us mere mortals go up to GovPlanet without a camera crew and take one of their "like" brand new trucks offsite without a license plate, and defacing it with graffiti and take it for a test drive!
We would still be rotting in jail...
My wife tried to look that...
Just be aware if you buy the Federal locking handles that you can lock from the inside - for the exorbitant price and shipping, the paint is already peeling after about 3 months and if you lock them from the inside, you cannot unlock them from the outside. So I can easily see how you might lock...
Gosh, every time I come here I get more great ideas!
I don't have a lot of fabrication skills, but I guess I can cut some steel plate with the "wheel of death".
The only thing cooler would be to use Linear Actuators to raise the hood! I have seen those in action at car shows.
Again, I would like to thank all the folks here that provided their collective wisdom on my winch project!
Success!
I installed a Serpa "Mustang" 24V 9500lb winch which fit into this cool mounting plate: HMMWV Humvee Hummer m998 FRONT WINCH MOUNTING PLATE KEEP FACTORY LOOK Heavy Duty
That...
I was just curious what the "correct" bypass hose would have been for my 6.2 but it seems VERY different than just a 5" So I googled 23500084 and it shows as 3/4" id at each end? Looks like it is just a section of 3/4" heater hose to me?
On my rig maybe someone changed the water pump or the...
I have a 6.2 so mine is a bit different I am guessing. That is the water pump bypass hose I think?
I bought a "complete" kit that supposedly had every hose for my app. Well, not so much, and not the right hoses. They did not include the bypass hose, and the hose that went to the surge tank was...
Oh boy - perfect timing for me. I just change all hoses and was about to pour in the Prestone when I saw this thread. So now I am not so sure what to use.
There are a thousand products on the Sprawlmart web site. Got a link?
If you are referring to the Super-Tech brand, looks like it is a...
Another newbie question. I tried searching but I am not finding the answer.
I am eventually looking to upgrade the stock M998 generator because I am installing an electric winch.
Seems like the price of the NOS 450 amp generators are much less than beatup "used" 200 amp generators that are...
