I could NOT make anything work in place of the original clips I pictured.
I think I still have some of the original new clips here someplace.
See the photo and pull the srews on the rear stopper piece, move the X slide thing in
position to make up with the slide round holes and that detaches it...
Get some Kroil and squirt it every fastener you may want to take apart. Let it soak in.
First try to turn the engine with the jackshaft with Injectors pulled just to see what it is.
Clips on bottom rot away, felt wears out, stuff fails. Protect back of hands good, it is tight space in there.
Me thinks if these things where ever greased then they wouldn't fail.
Mine took only 50 years to fail, they don't build them like they used to.
I paid about $2.50 each back then...
Remember that when you replace the DUST boots to open up the grease "goesoutagh" plug before you grease it. It is the designed GAA outlet hole.
They are dust boots not grease boots. Less grease on the inside of them and the longer they will last.
A machine does it for the racers

Carefully take one apart and put it back together and You will see the answers to 1, 2, & 3.

Just looking at what has been done with newer diesel trucks to allow them to run and what can happen.
I see mandatory additions to the diesel fuel as alternative fuel, but it is all over now.
This is Australia now .....
Half of all trucks on Australian roads run on diesel. ‘Not only will we not...
