Here it is folks. This weekend saw solid progress in the build. We welded the centers in the wheels and mounted the 395s. I "invested" a lot of time putting different beds and configurations on the back of the deuce before the final cut of the frame but after the single rear axle conversion...
I appreciate vintage but...
The cool factor is not in the equation. I am building 10 hurricane relief trucks for South Texas. The turning radius of the 6X6 is BAD. Sliding the rear axle across debris covered paths while turning only to pick up nails is BAD. Form is following function for...
Mee too but...
I like the looks of the trailer bed but I am going to put a HIAB on a bobbed deuce and want to keep the wheel base as short as possible. THe fender well will be too far back on the trailer bed so I am cutting down a C bed for that one. I just cut made another trailer bed shorty...
I know this tank
It belongs to a man in South Texas. He also has an M114A2 and a duster. Contact me if you have an interest in buying them.

Yup the next one will be a "C" bed cut down
This one is for a relative. Next weekend I will put Ethan's HIAB on a shorty and cut a "C" bed to match. I like the flat bed option the C offers.

An Answer
I put the trailer bed directly on a deuce I cut down this weekend and there are four issues with leaving the trailer frame off.
1. Can not access the in tank fuel pump easily (Thanks Bjorn)
2. Hits the top "T" on the air tanks
3. Hits the second mounting block on the trailer bed...
I just made a plug for the rear brake block that branches the single line to a "Y" for the rear axles. When you Bob a deuce you only need one outlet. 1/2x20 threads and a 45* concave end is what is needed in a plug to fit in the extra port. I could not find one commercially so I just made one...
Thanks for the info..
I am going to mount the base this weekend to calculate the needed shift of the rear axle to recenter it on the wheel well on the trailer bed. I have some 1/2" plate to cut for the new top plate where the old one is cracked.
The booms are being sand blasted and the rams...
Got 'em!
The outriggers and boom extension were in the pile. I was able to account for all parts except the hook (like yours) which I thought was interesting.

Wow what a GREAT trip!!!!
Amanda and I got back at 6am CST today and slept most of the day! Lots of stops along the way and most were centered around somthing OD.
Our first SS stop was to see Bjorn and Linnea. The 15 mile drive on the last leg of road to their home was by far the most...
Getting on the Road tomorrow!
Tomorrow begins the journey. I expect to make it to see Bjorn on Saturday and Robert on Sunday. After loading the crane, the little wife and I are going to tour DC before going down to Gainesville to see another SS member with a great hydro steering setup. We...

Did you use BOTH hands??? :o)
