    Ultimate 5 ton tractor

Instaed of moving the rear boggy rearward, how about simply adding another axle, with air bags and 3 or 4 link.

    DeSpline Questions

I haven't done it to a 939 but I can tell you I got no where near 4 mpg improvement on the deuce. I got 1 mpg at 55-60 mph over 300 miles.

Maiden voyage from Kansas to California in M934

Yes, there is a governor installed. It is not a vehicle speed governor, it is an rpm governor. Glad the trip is going good. Good luck and safe travels on the rest.

DOD changes ID requirement for base access (Enforcing RealID)

Ft. Bliss and Holloman AFB have announced the same requirements for access.

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

I am not wanting to chase anyone off but doesn't this thread belong in the Western US forum? It may not be helpful to others in the future if it stays here.

    were broke down near Barstow

Glad you made it home alright Buz. John had told me you were stuck out on I-40 due to road closures, but doing alright. I assume it wasn't too bad, what with a camper and all.

I finally got my first 5ton!! Santa Brought it!

You can but they will rub significantly on the bed when the rear suspension articulates. You would need to limit suspension travel or raise the bed. Not a problem if you stay on roads, though:( The pinion leaks on my deuce went away as well when I did as 74M35A2 said.

    M939/A1/A2 ABS vs. Non-ABS Trucks

Maybe you just need to air down a little on the rear tires. no load and TM recommended pressure = a small contact patch on my truck, and I have a long wheelbase version so I have a little more butt weight. I usually run 40-45 psi on the rears for long distance highway and 25-30 around town.

    New Guy From New Mexico

I send my official welcome from El Paso, even though I have been talking to these guys all week. I want the rest of you to know these guys got hit hard with the disease. They were in attendance at the Luminaria Walk held last Saturday at Elephant Butte Lake. They saw, we talked, they bought, ALL...

    M936a2 need Advise

I second the 395 suggestion. The 395 Michelin XZLs are rated for more load (12,300 lbs. each) than the 14.00s (9,920-9,960 lbs.). The 395 Goodyear MVTs offer a wider footprint and higher speed rating (68 mph) albeit with a slightly lower weight rating (9,370 lbs.). The A2 engine can spin up...

Luminaria Walk 2015 at Elephant Butte Lake State Park

Bumping back up cause it's TOMORROW!!! Reminding again that wood is needed for the bonfire. I have not heard Powell pipe in that he will attend and Ferrell already said he couldn't. They were the go-to guys for firewood.

    CAIMAN BAE/S&S MRAP electrical issue

I am not familiar with the vehicles but note that you listed running voltages. What are the battery voltages when stopped (and given some rest time after shutdown. If the 12V tapped one is still lower than the others, can you swap positions to so a higher volt battery is there and try running it...

Singling out the rear of a 5 ton

Or you could start by removing leafs from the rear pack for a free and fairly easy idea. I have thought about removing every other leaf and then restacking the removed leaves above the remaining working leaves to serve as spacers. It would look strange but serve to eliminate the fabrication of...

Luminaria Walk 2015 at Elephant Butte Lake State Park

Darn, I will not be able to make the Friday thing. That would be so cool to have the decorated fleet all lined up there tooling down main street.

New Mexico members check in here!

Bumping this up to remind those close by about the Luminaria event. Elephant Butte, next to the marina, on the 12th.
