My 1984 M923 AM General maximum speed is 45 miles per hour.

It should run 55 easily. When I got my M929 and first hit the interstate, it ran right up to 60+ mph with no problems. I'm thinking this will be a shorter return trip than I thought. Then I noticed the tach slowly going over 2300 rpm. I realized the tach was dragging so I slowed down to 55~57...

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

Looks like the tires are flattened a little in picture #4. Either the CTIS is set low or there is serious weight on the truck.

    Charging Batteries

If you are not sure or all batteries are low, I would disconnect all of them and charge them individually.

Scott, did you figure out why the solar wasn't charging the house batteries correctly at the GA rally? You have a pretty impressive solar power system. I would think it had to be something simple.

    Zinc Chromate plating at home?

Cadmium plating was mostly phased out in the mid-90's. Lot's of the hardware I spec'd originally as cadmium with yellow treatment was changed to yellow zinc as the cost and availability made the cadmium impracticable. I'm pretty sure you can still get cadmium plating, I think it will be expensive.

M1009, Marietta area, Voltmeter needle going to red on right side of meter.

Yes, get a voltmeter and check the voltage at the batteries. The driver side alternator charges the front battery and the passenger side alternator charges the rear battery. Check the voltage at each battery at idle and also while running the engine at higher rpm.

    CUCV Alternator Rebuild

On the way to the Georgia Rally this year my driver side alternator started over charging. I stopped to check it and at idle the charge was normal but the voltage increased as the rpms did getting to 17+ volts. After checking connections I disconnected the B+ wire off the back of the alternator...
