Tandem trailer using M105 axles build

Here is with the bolster rims and tires. It measures 7'6" outside. The 8 x 19.5" is to compare.. The overall width with the 19.5 is 8'2". Found the date codes on the tires....all the same...(1117). Yipeee My friend with the salvage yard sold me these 19.5's and tires for $20 each. I need...

Tandem trailer using M105 axles build

Thanks Silverstate55 for the ideas. Those are really "independant" suspension systems. I've got another project that will be a lot closer to truly independant like the above. It's rear is modeled off the Porsche 914 rear swing arms. It's a VW bug that is getting a supercharged 3800 Pontiac...

Tandem trailer using M105 axles build

I'm beginning a trailer build using (2) M105 axles. I just purchased some motor home tires and wheels, 19.5" budds with 8 x 19.5 tires. Got 6 and will have to find 3-4 more. Would like to have a couple spares. On the axle, they measure outside to outside....8'5"....so real close to the legal...

Custom wheels - Problem, questions, help.

Tomorrow I get (6) 19.5" budd with the 6 lug for my 105 axles from a scrapped Dodge camper. Tire diameter is around 31" cost $25. I'm within an inch of the 8'6" legal limit with the 105 axle. OOps, sorry...this is about 445 on a deuce but in 22.5" (I think). That is about the size of the...

Looking for picture of front spring pack loaded w/ winch

I'm glad to have gotten (2) M105 donors along the way (for my 4x4). The backs are on with 10 leafs and an air bag. I expect to rebuild the front and may put air bag on with the rebuilt spring, 11 leafs, for when I have a plow hanging out there. I took the 105 springs totally apart without...

    M1028 4.56 to 3.73 ?

My numbers were right but I was way off on model....oops. Engage reading comprehension before commenting.

    M1028 4.56 to 3.73 ?

I don't know enough about that engine to make those guesses... but it sounds very optimistic at 20. They have the aerodynamic shape of a brick and may or not have four wheels traveling in the same direction.

    M1028 4.56 to 3.73 ?

You are right. Does going to 37 have any rub problems? Spend money for excellent tires. Edit....had the 37"s stuck in my head....the 33 makes that OD usable, 65 at 2200 sounds great.

    M1028 4.56 to 3.73 ?

Using pi times diameter the 31 will travel 97.4" , 33 will travel 103.7" and 37 will travel 116.2" per axle revolution. Lets use 2000 rpm and the .73 OD, the drivshaft will turn 2739 rpm. If you have the 3.73 the axle rpm will be 734 rpm and with 4.56 will be 600.7 rpm. Thus the 3.73 at 2000...

    M1028 4.56 to 3.73 ?

I was reading about the Dana 80 (I recently slavaged). It's 4.10 and below, anyway there is two different sizes in the 60, 70 and 80, all built the same, I believe. The 3.73 would take the 4.10 and under carrier.... If I understand the question. The 4.56 would be the "above 4.10", so no fit...

    M116a3 Welding trailer build.

I wanted some space to carry up above. It has a really solid headache rack at the front. I should use aluminum but will probably use gavanized to enclose it. I tried to make a bit of overhang at the back with a rain gutter to have a place to work I have a nice hose reel for the torch and...

    M116a3 Welding trailer build.

I don't know about you, but I always want a cut off torch handy. I used an 1101 and lay 2 oxygen (oxygen can lay down) tanks next to the welder, and have a place for 2 20# LP tanks. I went with a smaller tire to bring mine level. Looks like a good start. If you go for a roof, put some slope...

    More horsepower for my m813

Take a good look at 98G's truck in the classified or maybe he can give a link to a build thread. He may have some good suggestions. I love his truck but went the deuce route. The 809 bobbed....yea mon. Hey wes, did you get the pto?

pros and cons to owning an LMTV vs a M35a3

pros and cons to owning an LMTV vs a M35a3

I like the A3, but they are extreemly prone to tranny issues. The Allison 1545 is an oddball, made from the very popular 545 but with a locking torque converter. Here is the problem. With the 4th as straight through, the locking torque converter puts additional torque on the clutch pack, but...

Well this is not good, GP hiking fees!

Government Liquidation aka Liquidation Services had those fees at auction of Square D in Peru Indiana about 2 weeks ago (actually higher fees). Their pictures showed tools and parts in boxes, but 99.9% of the people could not preview anything. I found that I was banned from bidding because...

M1061: Anyone added ramps on theirs

I went to a friends salvage yard and found 6 of the 19.5" budds with tires on a stripped motor home. I'll see if they can fit on the 1061. I have 2 M105 axles that I wanted rims for and that will free up 2 of the bolster rims. Score! Zebedee, I'm sorry to expand the thread. You are...

M1061: Anyone added ramps on theirs

Wes, when you have a chance, would you post a picture or 2 of the HMMWV rims with the 6 bolt welded in. I have several 20" split rims with the pattern that could be sacrificed. The ones I find with the search above is budd and this is for single (HMMWV tire). Someone used the Isuzu budds...

M1061: Anyone added ramps on theirs

I found his post on the tires but do you have a lead on the rims in 17.5". I'm not bringing anything up in a search. This is for an M105 and I have to admit, I like the HMMWV tires for that purpose. Thanks !

M1061: Anyone added ramps on theirs

My experience with the 2 piece rims is not good. I always seem to have a leak even when cleaned to the bare metal and refinished. Is there another donor of 16.5 in a one piece? Wow, the electric over hydraulic units are expensive. Did you consider a surge brake? My plan was to make it a...
