    Red's deuce/camper project

That looks really sweet. I think I forgot to mention that many of us have managed to hang that size spare in the stock location. There are threads on that or let me know if you have questions about it. Finishing faster than expected is always a good thing.

New Mexico members check in here!

I now return you to our regular programming: When pulling out trees and stumps with my big truck, it is surprising how easily a relatively heavy chain can snap. It is also surprising how far a relatively heavy chain will whiplash after snapping. While chains are load rated, it is usually the...

    Determining Tire Age

in my experience, old school tires fair better than the new ones. Not saying I would hit the interstate with some.

    My M35 ladder truck

It got windy that day and they had to take it down early. It took the four FF's assigned to the ladder and some help from us civilians (one deuce driver) just to get it down and rolled up without it touching the ground. The flag did "prune" some of the surrounding small trees in the process. So...

    Hello all!

Hey Fm, do you attend the annual Run To Ruidoso Downs cars show? I have been in attendance every year for quite a while. I wanted to take my deuce to this last one but I didn't have enough drivers for my stuff.

    Hello all!

Regarding how long it will take in the deuce, I predict longer than in a car, maybe twice as long. On the other hand, the return trip may only take half as long, given the braking issues that sometimes crop up.

    Just got my first MV

Yeah, uh...sorry about that. Maybe I never should have let you drive my stuff.

I'm confused now with Ahab's post. Is our Chaplain being invited to a threesome? I assume they are all over 18.

    939 abs ?

The ABS modification was about preventing engine stalling and loosing steering assist. Since the front tires are not connected to the engine under normal road use, there would be no reason for equipping that axle with ABS. (in addition to the weight aspect)

    Hello all!

The hard top is often easier than the soft top to remove because of the difficulty encountered in removing the front of the top from the windshield channel. Of course the weight of the hard top is a factor in this but that is why we then go out and buy wreckers:) Some members have fabricated...

    Hello all!

I send you a neighborly welcome to the site and congrats on your new toy. I was just up at Holloman with one of my trucks last week, picking up another. There are gatherings at Elephant Butte from time to time so be on the lookout for those. Probably next up will be the holiday lights event a...

    939 Checking the trans fluid

I think it is because you cannot be certain about the volume that has drained out of the torque converters as it has been sitting. That can have a huge effect.

Upside down "C" welded on the bottom of the deuce bed

They are not that hard to fabricate, if only intended for a conversation piece or display purposes.

    Just got my first MV

Part of the problem is this truck is out of an Air Force base and CARNAC only has data for Army trucks.

    How to tow a M816

Then I would say you need to either disconnect two drive shafts or pull four rear axles and two front hub covers.

    Hi from Texas

Welcome from El Paso. I bought my first green machine from Ft. Hood and am in Killeen regularly visiting my daughter. Military trucks.com on 183 in Liberty Hill has a ton of parts and is constantly bobbing trucks.

    M35a2 motor swap

Couldn't a guy with a wood lathe (or a metal lathe) whittle up a clutch alignment tool? You just need to provide the pilot shaft and clutch disc spline's minor inside diameter. Hardwood would be best but even pine should work fine. 2 cents.

ROLL CALL: "West Texas Detachment" Identify Yourselves, Please.

That's too bad. I was looking forward to six-wheeling (ten in your case) out in the hills together.

Plastic air wiper motors - repair how-to

I can wait, it doesn't rain that much out here. Although, the last time it did, I was in the deuce and had to use the manual lever all the way home.
