    2800 miles in a M923 1400 towing a M820A2

I will say I don't think 1st gear is best to see if the engine spin. A high gear is better.

ROLL CALL: "West Texas Detachment" Identify Yourselves, Please.

Artisan - there are a couple of SSers that like hanging out at the Ft. Bliss GL lot. I will point out your request to them and let them chime in or not. There is also a member from AZ that is at the lot a lot. wtx - I don't necessarily mind getting stuck on occasion is someone with an equally...

    Compression Fitting for Fuel line??

Lots have used hardware store fitting on their trucks for this. Check out the thread on the dual fuel line mod for the NHC250. It is not like the pressures encountered on most other diesel injection pumps.

    M931A2. Fuel prime

Not quite. The power switch and the "ignition" switch need to be on. But I have found that if your batteries are a little low (even just a very little) the solenoid will not pull in. Here is what I do when this happens. Turn on both switches. Then grab the fuel shutoff lever and turn it to the...

M920 Front tire and wheel switch out?

395/85R20s are 46+ inches but offer greater floatation because of the width. The Michelin XZLs are also rated for 12,300 lbs. each. However, they are only rated to 55 mph but then, so are the 14R20s.

Addition of 1 Ton Bed Crane

That is nice. I have been wanting that style of hoist to replace the stock spare tire davit on my truck. Where did you get the 24V winch?

    939 fuel tank capacity

I use good ole fashioned "bailin wahr". It is useful for many things at the same time. Of course the problem is finding old fashioned bales that use wire since most have nylon cord nowadays. (not really...I usually carry a roll of wire that I bought).

    Clicking in fuel tank

I had an M923A2 that made a mechanical noise in the tank like that. It was the fuel return flow. I do not hear that on my M936A2 though but I just got it and the tanks are still quite full. I also do not here it on my A1 truck but that is a different animal.

    Turbo check

You can also pull the inlet pipe off of the turbo and see if the shaft spins freely (truck off - of course). You can also idle it until warm and shut it down, then listen for the turbo as it spools down.

    Red's deuce/camper project

It's too bad I did not know you wanted to get rid of the paper clips on your bumper. I would have traded you bumpers. I am going to make and install some on my truck.

    Compression Fitting for Fuel line??

I saw you were also asking on the dual fuel line thread as well so we are talking about maybe 250 psi max?. I would not use regular hardware store compression fittings confidently. However, I would use the Parker stainless steel ones on steel lines. Big difference in quality. We use those at...

Deuce Front lock in/out hubs ? What history of use , MPG change with them?

I made my homemade caps out of some PVC fittings. I do not remember the exact size but it was something like three inch flange adapters and glue on caps. Whatever the flange size was coincided close enough with the hub bolt pattern. I did have to machine the flange O.D. about a quarter inch or...

    My 1st M923

They still twist fairly easily even with the double frame. I know I was surprised how much mine twists with even a small amount of axle articulation. The double frame helps more with lengthwise loads. But I think frame twist is your friend while off-roading.

Deuce Front lock in/out hubs ? What history of use , MPG change with them?

I saw a 1 mpg improvement on about 300 miles of 50-55 mph. This was with home-made desplined caps.

    M923a2 air question

MBI DP12 is the Midland part number. Just ask for size 12 brake diaphragms. There are several acceptable manufacturers and they are all subject to the same DOT specs.

    Roadside Assistance

It seems to me that if you try to avoid issues by proper PM and pre-trip inspections, carry appropriate stuff for the most likely problems like tools, extra fuel filters, a serviceable spare, jack/cribbing, etc. and knowledge that comes with experience and TM reading, most issues are manageable...
