So each button is wired into the big cannon plug giving you manual control of the 3 valves? I'm guessing all 3 buttons have a common 24v power wire going to them and each button then has a different valve wire. Hit the button and send power to the respective solenoid?
Did a drain and fill on the antifreeze today. Is there any special burping procedure I need to know about? I searched and found nothing. Seems straightforward....
I had no idea it was that complicated. So, I fixed it today. The plug is a 3/4-16 thread. I bought a 2" bolt and cut the threads down 1/4". I then used my band saw and cut half the thickness of the head off. It will clear the exhaust without interference now. Since I had several threads deep in...
So in my bid to complete the fluid change on all components, the transmission was next. I crawl under and drain the transfer case. Got a few gallons of 15w 40 which was dark but not burnt. It was old. I then make my way to the trans pan and reach up and touch the plug and it wobbles. Confused, I...
Well, I bought a part. Thought it was for my truck then I do a deep dive and it's for an MRAP? whatever that is... Might can use the brake pads.... Dunno, sure looks close... Hmmm.. 50 bucks is no huge loss...
Ive owned mine now for a couple of months and would suggest this. After you get the truck, have 5k of expendable income for basic sorting. This includes all filters and fluids, driveline rebuilding, fan clutch upgrade (if older unit), tires (if no good) and maybe batteries. Then leak fixing...
So i have no idea when/if my trans oil has ever been changed. Based on color, I'm pretty sure its 15-40 motor oil. I will be changing it to Syn ATF when I get an extra $700 bucks, but for now, would the Costco HD 15-40 Diesel motor oil be sufficient?? It's the cheapest 15-40 I can find at 13.33...
I will be doing a full insulation of the cab. This unit is 13500 BTU. The factory unit is 40,000 BTU? Thats bigger than my house AC unit which is 36,000 BTU...
I will be doing one of these this summer. AZ is crazy hot, and I want to drive year-round. I'll do a video...

Got the call from the driveline shop. He installed 2 new Spicer U-joints, machined off an end and removed the disintegrated cardboard, straightened it and balanced it. He stated he was able to keep the slip joint. $500 all in.... I'll get it today but will have to wait till after XMAS to do the...
Interesting. While i'm thinking the "hinging" issue is compounded by the coating as the investigation suggest, he is telling me its desirable to have the coating over a steel-on-steel spline... I find it fascinating that even the simplest of parts can be technical.
I dropped off the intermediate drive shaft off today at the shop. The owner indicated the coating was designed to wear less than metal on metal splines and was more forgiving to drivelines that rarely got greased. He did say that I had the 2" splines and would remove the cardboard, if present...
