I checked out the sites you guys mentioned, pretty good information out there.
I am gonna look for some local clubs and start there along with the study guides. It seems like there is a lot to learn.
You shouldn't need an additional carrier. IIRC. The ring gear bolts directly to the locker thus replacing the whole carrier assembly. The locker you linked to replaces all the internals. I highly recommend that if you have never messed with gears before let someone who has install it.
When I managed the bike shop we carried a brand of reflective tape called Lightweights reflective tape. It's black and reflects bright white. It's on the skinny side at 3/8 in. but I'm sure the material is sourced elsewhere and you could find it in 1 or 2 inch widths...
So the whole amateur radio/HAM thing has always intrigued me, I don't know anybody personally who is into it, is there a good source I can read up and learn some very basics like terminology, types of radios, uses, etc?

A few guys around here have used a mixture of motor oil and kerosene sprayed through a garden sprayer. I have not done it, I don't know if it works. YMMV
