I know a guy who would be the seller of this "tank hull" if he had it. He made an M2 tripod out of scrap metal (extremely poor build)& called it original. The pintel receiver was two washers welded to accept the pintel on the head of the tripod, not the cast & machined brass part we are all...
Ray,
I remember having to help you put the 100 cc bike up on the back of your truck last year after a meet. That 250cc would kill both of us if we tried that hand loading stunt. The crane you have now is a much better idea & safer too! You new bike looks very good indeed.
You are going to triple the miles on the odometer before you get home, but you will have one good recovery tale to tell if we keep murphy busy down here in Florida for the next week or so.
Floridianson said the same thing, air tool oil going into the valve should clear up the stickiness. Keep you eyes open for the forthcoming great cross country M915a2 trip that Floridianson is going to make from Oregon to Florida for his new truck. He probably needs to start a Go Fund Me account...
Yesterday, I had to move the LMTV (M1081) & after the air built up, the service brakes would not release. Upon looking @ the actual brake pedal, it stayed on the floor & didn't return as normal. If I stuck my foot under the pedal & pulled up on it, the brakes released & the truck rolled like it...
You have been wanting the truck ever since you sold the one you had, great find! The recovery will be a good week vacation, @ least its cooler in Oregon to start the trip!
I have sweated over the darn thing so much trying to get it home since March that I don't know if it will ever be used for anything except military shows. An outstanding member here is getting it moved to Albany, Georgia from Fayetteville, N.C. so that I can go get it with the Deuce sometimes...
A while back, GL was auctioning M-105a2 trailers out of Jacksonville, FL. for $300.00 to $500.00 before fees. I got a couple that were refurbished with new paint, tires, bows & covers & complete sets of railing to go all the way around; they were less than $500.00 after fees.
Like Tinstar...
You have to bleed the hoses as a hydraulic pump cannot move air, it just cavitates. My experience is just loosen & bleed the hoses that you replaced till you remove the trapped air pockets. After that, you should be back in business! YMMV.
My Deuce runs @ 28.5 & all is good @ the gauge & the Fluke. The LMTV runs @ 25.0 on the truck gauge when you start it, & slowly goes into the yellow zone after about 10-15 minutes. The Fluke says it is 28.5 @ the slave port. I don't trust the gauges on military trucks, especially the FUEL gauge.
Finditparts, Haldex P#RN31BC for the tractor valve repair parts, not to pricy! For shuttle valves, Haldex P# KN25060 for the new units. Info for those who need new parts in the future.
Get a tractor valve rebuild kit, pull the valve off the frame over the rear axle, rebuild, replace & you are back in business without the air leakage. It is easy with common tools & a little time. been there, done that, but got no t-shirt.
A lot of the more knowledgeable guys here won't touch an untitled truck unless it is a salvage parts truck. Others will be by later on to fill in more details.
