My seatbelts didn’t work anymore so I got some from LMC. The instructions were non-existent so I found this video on YouTube that helped out a lot.
The only hardware you actually use from their kit is the bolt to hold the belt winder to their bracket. Used the original stuff everywhere else...
I was going to reupholster the seat today but the vinyl seat kit I got from LMC arrived damaged. Looks like it happened from the included hog ring pliers they throw in the box. Even if I was able to smooth out the indentation it would still show in the grain…
I called them and it was quite...
Oh ok I was confused because he said to check the thread on the balancer puller, and then afterwards asked if I also got an installer. Totally makes sense now, and I will triple check all of the pieces before doing anything.
Thanks!
I was under the impression that it’s just a blunt tip that presses against the crank, and not actually threading into it. While the puller plate lifts up against the M10x1.50 bolts in the crank pulley mounting holes. I definitely don’t wanna be threading the wrong bolts into my crank! Will...
I don’t have anyone to help me right now, so what I ended up doing was using an old belt. I got some gloves on and held the belt all the way at the end with no slack and used it sorta like an oil filter wrench. It was a PITA but I got the sucker off! I will take the shroud out tomorrow...
I went to the store and got a 3/16”x1” flat bar and drilled a hole in it to hold the balancer to remove the crank bolt. One bolt through the flat bar and one in the balancer to lock the bar in place once I got it to make contact with the sway bar. I was worried about messing up the sway bar by...
Since I got everything taken apart I decided to take the alternators to MJ Auto Electric to get completely overhauled. They did such a good job on the starter and I figured I better get them done while I’m still out here in Wisconsin.
I’m prepping to do the harmonic balancer job and I just removed the crank pulley to get a better look. I’m glad I decided to do this because the rubber doesn’t look good!
I’m going with an OEM unit. I was going to go with the fluidampr, but it’s really damn expensive and also out of stock...
Yeah I didn’t realize I could just thread the rods in until after you said it. I’m gonna head over to the store now and get some more 1/4-20 rod and add them in.
Yesterday I worked on lining the cab floor with raptor liner bed liner spray. And I just installed new door seals right now. I have...
Ah man, I wish I would’ve done that before I put the batteries in.. they’re so damn heavy that I don’t really wanna pull them out again lol.
The batteries were a little too big for the hold downs and I had to bend back the tabs on one side to get it to sit down on the battery and it still isn’t...
If only I could send the bracket over to someone who knows how to properly fix them… 😉
Would you be interested in fixing it? I don’t trust any of these local hack welding shops to do it right.
I got a puller en route to take the sucker off.
Lower bracket is there.
I got some interstate...
Oh ok great, I thought I’d have to pull everything apart to access that. I’m going to have to pull the wheel for the high beam switch though right? High beams are stuck on and I can’t turn it off. Turn signals work great though.
Tried my window washers for the first time yesterday while I...
Yeah I’ll try to find a good welding shop this time—definitely not that last place.
I’m not sure about the rear lower bracket, but I’m thinking everything should be there because the power steering pump is solid and doesn’t move even with that broken tab at the top. But I’ll have to check on...
Good thing I asked you about that before installing it. I noticed all the hype about it is from around 10 years ago and wasn’t sure if it was still recommended. I’d rather not cut my wiring but I wouldn’t mind if it meant the truck would benefit from it. Should I pop in a new GM unit just for...
I’m really not sure what part is bad. I don’t have any squealing and the motor seems to run pretty smooth to me. Could just be the pulley I suppose.
I will take off all the belts snd the pulley like you said and have a look. I might as well pull off that power steering bracket and get that...
The Speedo has always bounced around when over 45-50. I lubed the cable and the mechanism on the back of the gauge and it got a little better but still does it. You think it’s the cable or the gauge? Could it also be the gear in the transfer case? That will get replaced when I install the...
I was just checking under the hood after I got back from cruising and I noticed what appears to be a slight wobble on my crank pulley. Is a little play like that normal? The motor is running really smooth when driving but I'm concerned. How does it look to you guys? Should I replace the...
Thanks so much for pushing me to do it myself though. I learned so much and I feel much more confident about my abilities.
Yes if you have a spare filter I’d really appreciate it! I will wait to reassemble the dash so I can pop it in. I went with the full covered clear plastic and I haven’t...
Alright well… I thought it was going to be all downhill from the flywheel job. I was wrong! Re-installing the transfer case on the ground by myself was really damn tough. I got it done though!
I modified my tranny jack and drilled some holes for 1/4-20 bolts and mounted some 2x4s to it to...
