Gerhard,
I cannot recall the purpose of that groove. Was it for a shaft retaining screw to ride in?
I have replaced a shaft that sheared at the groove and left me looking silly with the handle in my hand....... hardly what I expected given the burly nature of the truck.
What are you...
Gen. McGregor,
Awesome idea! I have no photos and am currently decorating my father-in-laws yard with my M25A2 w/w.
However I appreciate your truck! It's the holy trinity: fold down sides, hard top and winch!!! Nice!
Rick
Rusty,
Thanks for the post with your diagnostic routine and solutions. I appreciate the contribution even though I don't have an A3. Someday I'll make the switch.....

I used to think that these "whinge fest" threads were designed to scare off the competition at auctions.
wsucougarx may be onto a more accurate explanation of the whinge factor.
Maybe we all have been affected by the world economic climate and are all a little testy???
Who knows.
Rick
Falconan, Welcome and hello!
I think your idea is wonderful because you have us to see you through!!! This forum, the technical manuals and a basic, simple vehicle are a great formula for success!
I say go for it!
rlwm,
Your reply, albeit correct and appropriate for the question, took you 16 minutes.
I expect to see improvements in your coming posts! ;););)
I acknowledge you sir, your reply was so complete there were no other replies.
Like a knock out.
Rick
I wonder if those balancing materials in the tire have any effect on an "out of round" condition.
Methinks it won't.
Suggestion: Once you get all your tires mounted, trade positions to see if the bouncing moves. Maybe this way you can discover the sole culprit and effect a repair.

Mike,
Again I am denied access to this site, being cited as an "abuser" even though it is the first time I have sought to connect.
What are the dimensions for the xm1048?
Rick
PJ,
I have experienced a few occasions where a motor that has been inactive for some time has"repaired" itself by being driven. It sounds like your motor recovered it's composure recently and has ceased to produce the blow-by that drips out of the slobber tube.
X4 on the coolant odor. You...
I'm winging it here but you might try a Jeep MC that is of the vintage for when the trailer was spec'ed. I don't know when that was but it might be a good place to start.
Rick
I'm not having much luck. I tried the super duper Google search where I entered SS as a site specific place to look. Nada, amigo! The other searches of the net only came up with those worthless info sites that have no info!
I mean, it's easy enough to look at the trailer and see if it's a...
Hey guys, where can I look up trailer dimensions on the various mil trailers? I checked the NSN info on various trailers but have not seen the dimensions.
All I have is the GL shipping info and for some reason I don't trust those numbers:-?
Right now I am seeking info on the mx1048 length and...
I would think it is preferable to run stock front leaf packs on a bobber rear. That way it is at least over kill and you will already have sufficient U-bolts can remove a leaf or 2 in order to dial in the flex.
If the bobber is run light all the time, it may serve to lighten the front packs as...
Unforgiven,
Are you claiming that Chinese Nationals are coming to the US and opening businesses to defraud us?
I don't think so.
I see there being 2 groups of Americans making this whole thing happen:
Group A) Americans who want cheap goods and are willing to buy something too good to be...
